Description: Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Fullerton, the Matador Cantina offers a fresh fusion of traditional and contemporary Mexican-inspired cuisine, as well as a full bar with premium tequilas and signature Margaritas. In addition to fresh house-made sangria, the Matador also features a boutique selection of Spanish, Californian, and South American wines. Guests may dine in cozy leather booths and traditional high-top seating in the main bar/dining area, or in the lounge with wraparound leather banquette, lounge tables and cushion ottomans. Exposed historic brick walls, hand-made wrought iron chandeliers, and an impressive candle-lit wall creates a warm and decidedly intimate ambiance. Original oil-on-canvas paintings and a magnificent iron bullhead statuette further hint to the space’s extraordinary décor. Ample and convenient parking located at the rear of the restaurant off Commonwealth Avenue. Open for Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, and late night.

“Keep Coming Back”
Reviewed October 29, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

There are a lot of little restaraunts in downtown Fullerton. I've been there a few times. It is always on the short list if we are going to eat in Fullerton. If you like Mexican food it's a great place to go, but their menu is not just Mexican food. Matador menu has many unique items and everything I have had has been good. Small place, long bar, nice ambiance, good food.

“Excellent pulled pork taco's”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I read the review online and was in from Melbourne, where there is only really one or two genuine mexican food. Loved the three colour corn chips, homemade salsa and the marguerita's were excellent. Service was lovely, and very attentive. Albeit, it was a slow sunday evening and it was very quite. Good decor and close to other stores in the main street. Plenty of parking at the back.

“Great "mexican" inspired food and interesting drinks”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

This place is good enough we ate there twice in one trip. The Braised Short Rib tacos were to die for, and the steak la plancha with chimichurri sauce was delicious and cooked exactly as ordered. We also found the chorizo ravioli to be a wondeful mix of flavors. The sides, soups, and salads were very good and they make a "Bananas" Foster from plantains that was superb. The cocktail menu is nothing less than inspired and has many interesting types of drinks. Located in one of the oldest buidlings in the area, it is favorite plce for locals and great for people watching while enjoying a relaxing evening.
