“Comfortable Suite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2011

I just spent five nights at this hotel and had absolutley no complaints other than the "Powdered" eggs at breakfast. Room layout is a bit unique, but provides a separate sitting/work area apart from the space where the bed is placed. Room was quiet, check in and out efficiently organized. Room was immacuately clean, elevators fast, wi fi easy to use, plenty of parking, all in all a good experience and I got my Marriott points!! Good choice for a moderately priced hotel in Fresno.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor

I don't know why travelers would stay here. It's not close to Hwy 99. We were enroute from Palm Springs to Sacramento. My daughter chose the Springhill Suites because she thought it was close to the mall and that the Grand Daughters would like to hang out at the mall in the morning before we headed off to Sacramento. Well it's several miles from the mall. But thinking it was close to the mall we drove around for 30 minutes before we found it. Upon entering the motel the tiny lobby, long narrow hallway, and having to wait in line to get into the elevator gave me the feeling of a cruise ship. Not a luxury ship but a ship designed for hauling passengers from one point to another. The cramped claustrophobic feeling was reinforced when we entered our room which was long and narrow with one small window at the far end. My daughter said she had booked a suite so that the 5 of us could be together. What we got was a tiny living area with a couple of couches, a tiny, tiny alcove with a tiny sink, tiny refrigerator, little microwave, two styrofoam cups, and no plates. Past this cramped area were the two double beds jammed between two walls. I guess this place was designed for people who would be staying in the area on business for a few days. But I don't think it even works for that purpose. I've stayed in Extended Stay hotels that were much more intelligently laid out than this place.

The one bright spot after a miserable nights sleep on a mediocre bed and choosing between either a very loud air conditioner or stifling heat was the breakfast area. The breakfast foods available were the best I've seen for this kind of place. The eating area was large with lot's of comfortable chairs. Even a fireplace. The staff did an exceptional job of keeping the area clean and replenishing food items as they were consumed by the large contingent of teenage girls there for a tennis tournament.

Room Tip: Rooms suited only for a couple of people.

Excellent hotel at the mid range price point. Good, free breakfast. Free wifi. Pool and sauna. Clothes waching machine and dryer. And spotless rooms. This place aint a 5 star Four Seasons, but I am not sure that exists in Fresno anyway. At this price point, the SpringHill was excellent in my opinion. Total "no fuss" hotel and deserves all the good reviews it gets.

We were essentially looking for a place to spend the night fairly close to the Fresno State campus. SpringHill Suites filled the bill. In making the reservation I asked for a king bed. When we checked in, I heard the clerk in training say something to the more senior clerk. She the told me that the only room left with a king bed was on the first floor and was that ok. It turned out to be a room for handicapped people. I had no recollection of her mentioning it was a handicapped room. The only real issue was that there no countertops in the bathroom so there was no place to set down your stuff.

Again, it was neither terrible nor very good but it worked in providing a place to stay on our way to somewhere else. Oh, the free breakfast was probably slightly above average.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the SpringHill Suites Fresno. Your feedback is very important to us, it helps us to improve our property and service. After reading your comments this has brought to our attention what an inconvenience not having a shelf in the restroom near the sink could be. We are installing a small shelf near the sink area in the restroom as well as corner shelf soap dishes into the shower surround in all of our accessible rooms. Thank you for helping us improve our hotel and we hope to see you on your next trip to Fresno.

After a bit of trouble getting to the 'front door' we found this hotel just fine for an overnight stop in Fresno. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is helpful. We found plenty of restaurants near by and easy to get to. The hotel itself is in a bit of an odd place in terms of access and my GPS didn't quite know which street it was on. Once you get that figured out, it was fine.

This hotel is situated right next to the Homewood Suites. While not as fancy as the Homewood Suites, if you can get this hotel for the right price, I say go for it.

The rooms are clean, though I did have one problem with mildew in the bathroom, but was able to switch rooms. The decor is very cheerful, in blues and yellows. The bathroom is standard, large, with okay toiletries. You have a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. There is an Ipod dock. I also discovered on the last day that there are free paper plates and utensils in the microwave. There is also good closet space, with two closets! The room also has a living room area with desk, sofa, easy chair. The walls are pretty thin, and you can hear loud conversations in the next room or people walking above you, but I think this is pretty standard in alot of hotels.

The free breakfast is very good, except for the scrambled eggs, which were horrible. On Sunday they had omelettes, which were very good. Tea, coffee and fruit can be had at all hours.
The gym is tiny, but nice and has two treadmills, an elliptical and a weight machine.
There is also a pool, which I didn't try. The hotel also has a washer and dryer, for $1 per machine, which is very convenient. There is a free computer and printer, but it is not in a private room, like the Homewood Suites, so there is no privacy there. Wifi worked fine.

Because there are only two entrances to this hotel, with alot of traffic, I felt slightly safer in this hotel than in the Homewood Suites. There is more of a hotel-feel at the Springhill Suites than the Homewood Suites, whereas the Homewood Suites has more of an apartment-like feel.

All in all, a great stay!
