Garden Inn and Suites

Stayed here in November for an athletic event, and returned again in June for another athletic event. We travel with families and high schoolers. I am the coach, and Garden Inn & Suites is very accomodating. The owners are friendly and show great hospitality, the grounds of this motel are superb, and the rooms are clean. We stayed in two rooms that adjoin a small living room that is great for the kids to go out into, hang out, play cards, or watch the tube. The motel itself is set back from the main road and is quiet. It is located of Hwy 99 for convenience, but not right next to it. If you are involved in an event in the Clovis or SE part of Fresno, it's a few miles away. The breakfast bar is not fancy, but in our two visits, they have fresh fruit selections which is important for athletes. As long as the prices don't skyrocket or something :), we'll be back in November - because we ALWAYS plan on making states!!!

We traveled to Fresno for a graduation and supposedly there was also some sort of bike tour going on. With that said we could not find a vacant (CLEAN looking) room in FRESNO of all places. I had looked at some hotels online before we departed home so I had remembered Garden Inn as a possibility. So we drove across town to this hotel. The couple that runs this hotel were AWESOME. We had checked in pretty late at 12:30am and I did not feel like I was inconveniencing them with just asking about the rates. The lady who checked us in upgraded us to a one bedroom suite which was very nice but very large for just 2 adults and a small child. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome as well. The grounds was very well maintained, had beautiful flowers, and smelled wonderful. I would definitely stay at this location again.

Rated the most romantic hotel of 2009 for Fresno. That tells you something about tastes in Fresno. Next to 99 Freeway. Weird jacuzzi room , very poor layout. Dated furnishings including a plastic flower arrangement that looked 30 years out of date. Smoke detector disconnected. Burned out light bulbs . A notice on the toilet tank to hold the lever down. Badly needs updating.
In addition the entire Fresno area is a rip off - with gas stations offering a collusive 2 tier gas pricing scheme that lets you pay cash at above the going rate elsewhere and a credit card price 15cents per gallon higher than that. Stay away from this entire area.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. We take all comments seriously and will consider your suggestions for improvement. It’s hard to appease the tastes and styles of everyone, but we appreciate the feedback. If you look beyond the ruggedness, there is more to Fresno than meets the eye. Hope next time you'll find that Fresno is not that bad.

I would highly recommend the Garden Inn & Suites. I would definitely stay here again.

PROS: Friendly proprietors, not exorbitant prices, clean grounds with inviting landscaping, clean, spacious rooms; rooms are quiet; nice continental breakfast with fruit selections beyond the ordinary.

CONS: Refrigerator in our room was very loud, had to unplug to sleep; for me the bed was a bit uncomfortable but it is hard to find the perfect bed at any motel. I didn’t like the policy of scanning my credit card and driver’s license. Driver’s license should be for I.D. and credit card should be swiped through card reader for payment, but neither item should be scanned. That said, they did delete my scanned credit card and driver’s license from their computer upon my request.

We were looking for a place to stay in Fresno, on our honeymoon, on the way to Yosemite.
There were not a lot of choices for Romantic Inns in Fresno. But I saw this on the website and have to admit Jamie and her husband have created a beautiful garden spot here.
The rooms are big and spotless. He took us around and let us taste fruit from the over 50 varieties they have growing on site. In spite of the fact it sits on highway, the rooms are quiet. We went back and stayed on our way home. It felt like home. This is a great place with great people. You will like your stay here.

The grounds are delightful, filled with roses and other folliage. Each room had a balcony or small patio (not much use in August in Fresno), but very nice. The pool was clean and fresh. The room was great with a small refridgerator and microwave as well as very comfortable bed. Close to the freeway, but totally quiet in the room. The staff was helpful and pleasant. All in all, a great experience.

In hotel business, you will be guaranted with a wonderful stay if it's run by a family. I have skipped those chain hotels with number in their names. Glad to settle with Garden Inn and Suites. The breakfast is superb. The owners are very friendly, and they care about your feelings. I will definetely come back in the future. It's very close to highway but didn't get much noise.

Next door is underground garden. The visit will be less attractive than its name. but not bad if you have a few hours to spend in Fresno.
