A fantastic attraction in a flat/hot ordinary city where you don't expect anything exciting. On the contrary, this garden has become one of very few places I would like to revisit or recommend it to others! I love it and was inspired to accomplish more in my life!

Worth stopping at. It's big and beautiful. Mostly covered, with some outdoors. Knowledgeable staff. Kid friendly.

We went up to Madera to visit some relatives. One their kids wanted to take a tour of this place. There really aren't very many special things to visit in the Fresno area so the Forestiere Underground Gardens was a really nice surprise. The tour was very pleasant and it was just something very unique. We all really enjoyed ourselves exploring this amazing home. Me, my husband, our uncle and aunt and their children all went. The children seemed to enjoy themselves. There was even another little girl on the tour with her mother and two other couples. If you are looking for something to do in Fresno or are heading north on the 99 fwy through Fresno, I highly recommend stopping to check this place out. This property is less than a mile off the 99 fwy. We also enjoyed the cool temperature in the home on a hot September day.

This place is cool. You need to join the tour to avoid missing in this maze. The tour shows you how a man spent 40 years to build his underground castle by hand. It's an amazing art work presented Forestiere's talent for architecture and design. He was sure a person knew how to enjoy his life. It's a good place for family to visit. No parking lot. You can only park along the street with no fee. If you plan to visit the national parks surrounding Fresno, why not stay one night and give yourself a chance to walk into the history.

The underground gardens are really a historical, home and complex, dug by one man, under the California desert. This place should honestly be bought and preserved by the government, and restored fully as a historical site.

Forestiere was a self taught genius, who was well ahead of his time in sustainable and alternative living, architecture, agriculture, genetics, and engineering. He was also incredibly hard working and persistant.

A decent amount of area has been restored, and it is well worth the visit. Much can be learned from this man and his ideas.

The cost of the tour is a bit steep, but that is understandale, considering the Forestiere family is doing this on thier own, without government assistance, and also has to deal with internal family fueds over selling the land and filling it in.
