Honestly, we just Googled "things to do in Fresno" and ended up being one of the things that came up. My wife wanted to take our 9 year old son to visit a museum, and when we searched for a gallery Artes America came up again.
Parking was free, although a little tricky to figure out for our first time there (we ended up going in through the "exit only"driveway when parking.) Once we got inside it was a real treat. There were some surprisingly nice exhibits with some really impressive artwork.
The lady who greeted us at the door was very friendly, gave us a quick overview of the exhibits on view, and was sure to remind us where the restrooms were, which my wife greatly appreciated I might add.
There were quite a few couples and some other families walking around the galleries and we ended up getting an unexpected personalized tour by a gallery employee named Freddy. He even recommended a coffee shop in the nearby Tower District (which is pretty much Fresno's SoHo) as well as a couple of places to choose from to grab a bite to eat. There was also apparently a music event happening later that night, but we didn't get a chance to come back after dinner.
A final note is that the admission was free, which is a huge plus when finding fun or interesting things to do with a kid in tow. In the event that he wasn't thrilled, we wouldn't be out a penny. My wife put a ten dollar bill in their donation box on the way out and our son was entertained the whole time. I would bring people here if they were visiting from out of town and wanted to see what Fresno had to offer in terms of art museums.
