I booked 5 nights in the vacation rental house called Storyland 2 as accomodation for myself and 3 colleagues for the duration of a conference at the Anaheim Convention Center. At a charge of $332 per night, we expected to be comfortable; but we were very disappointed.
When we got into the house it was late, but we would have turned around and found somewhere else if we had thought we could find anything in the area at that point.
The whole house smelled bad, and hadn't been vacuumed; all the surfaces felt like they had an oily film, making them most unpleasant to the touch; the comforter covers were stained; and all of the plates, glasses, silverware, and cooking utensils had to be washed before we felt the least bit inclined to use them. We weren't pleased with the hole in the dining room wall, mold in the bathrooms, and rust on the patio furniture, but it was the dirtiness that really upset us.
Given the lack of alternative accomodation and the fact that we had already paid in full for the house, we called the management agency and requested that the house be properly cleaned. We were assured that it would be done, but no one ever came. We cleaned the areas we used and stayed out of the other areas.
We have rented vacation homes before and found some better than others, but this one was most unpleasant and absolutely not worth the money charged.
