“Paul's, 'A Semper Finer Diner'”
Review of Paul's Coffee Shop

I went to Paul's for the first time after seeing it featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The owner, Phil Martinez was just bringing the day's restock from Smart & Final. He was friendly and personable, greeting everyone he met, even hugging a couple of the regulars. Lots of military (mostly Marine) garb adorning the walls. It looked like as lot of the 'regulars' were ex-military, one of the patrons was wearing a Blackwater t-shirt.

One of us ordered the pork steak featured on the Diners, Drive-ins & Dives show and the other ordered their French-toast combo. The pork steak was huge, but missed the mark flavor-wise. It was pretty bland without much real pork flavor and a bit too fatty. The French-toast combo was great w/ the French (Texas) toast cooked just right and full of flavor. If I go back, I'll try the chicken fried steak or one of their 1/2 lb burgers.

Pau's is the place to go to experience the chow you remember in the military. Do you like (or should I say remember) SOS, Spam-and-eggs with a little fruit on your metal tray? What are you waiting for? Hurry, Paul's closes it's doors around 1PM.

Great home style cooking, catering to Marines and service personnel. See Semperfinerdiner website. They have chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy,SOS, French toast, omelets etc. I had the Portuguese sausage skillet special under $8. 7am-2pm?

They keep being recognized as the best...For good reason. The first time we tried them, we came back 3 times that week! Be sure to try the chicken fried chicken, and the chicken fried steak. Be ready to share, if you are a light eater. This meal comes on 3 plates. Not expensive...but wonderful food. See you there! They close at 2pm, so don't be late.
