Stayed here due to proximity to SF Airport. Not bad for the location and the value. Got to SFO in 20 minutes. We got a nice refurbished room with new carpets, nice smooth bedding and a soft mattress. Bathroom had nice granite vanity and was clean! We did have to ask to be moved to the back, we were originally given a room near a busy intersection and you can hear the traffic, plus we were given a 2nd flr room and this place has ONE elevator all the way at the back of the courtyard. Breakfast was included in the room, though not fully staffed - had to wait for coffee, but selection was good, and you can have eggs cooked to order. Good value, considering what you'd pay to stay in downtown S.F.

December 7, 2005 – I appreciated and enjoyed my one-night stay at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Foster City, just South of San Francisco.

When I checked in I was happy to receive an upgrade to a suite with a king bedroom. It was unexpected, but appreciated.

My room was #248, on the second floor facing the courtyard. Entering the room it was apparent that it had recently been completely refurbished. Everything was new and in excellent condition. The living room was large, being the size of a normal hotel room. The bedroom had plenty of room too even with the king bed and dresser. There was a remote controlled TV on the dresser.

In the living room there was a queen-size sofa bed, a coffee table, an end table, and an arm chair. Lighting was excellent. There was also a dry-bar with a microwave and refrigerator under the granite counter.

I had work to do and appreciated the very large work desk that pulled out from under the counter. There was also an office-style chair that was fully adjustable and comfortable. Also on the counter above the desk were the STSN (Ibahn) HS internet connection and a bright lamp and the TV. The TV had a good selection of cable channels as well about 25 pay-per-view movies.

The bath area had a combination tub and shower along with the toilet in one room and granite vanity with sink in the dressing area. Lighting was excellent in the bathroom. Across from the vanity was a closet with an iron and ironing board.

The hotel is located near the junction of the 101 and 92 freeways, 10 miles or about 15 minutes South of San Francisco International Airport. The hotel has plenty of free parking on all sides of the hotel and multiple entrances which open with a room key.

I had breakfast at the hotel and ordered an omelet along with the buffet. The cost of the hot buffet along with cooked to order egg dishes was $9.95. The breakfast room was comfortable and less formal than a typical restaurant.

The only meal offered at the hotel is breakfast. There are a number of restaurants in the area with a Boston Market being just across the parking lot. Also across the parking lot is a Starbucks, Jamba Juice and a Noah’s Bagels. A short drive from the hotel you can find Mimi’s, Stuart Anderson’s, Armadillo Willies (barbecue), BJ’s (brewery and pizza), and a Red Robins. There is a Safeway market about ½ mile away also.

I did not use any of the other facilities at the hotel, but it has a very nice indoor swimming pool and also an indoor whirlpool spa.

The three hotel associates that I came in contact with (two from the front desk and one in the restaurant) were very friendly and helpful.

I was very happy with my stay at the Courtyard in Foster City and would definitely stay here again.

I was NOT impressed with this Courtyard at all. My husband and I checked into our room which we requested for a non-smoking floor. First they assigned us a room on the 1st floor facing the parking lot, then after my husband's request, they assigned us a room on the 2nd floor facing the courtyard. The hotel was NOT full at all! In addition, the nite clerk was NOT friendly at all. No smile, no personality. Seemed to be converying an attitude of "I'm too good for this place...you're not worthy of my time". Very incompetent!

Later that night, my husband needed to get online and did not find an ethernet cable. We asked the nite clerk for one and he told us to check the closet, which is weird! But we did anyways...we checked closet, drawers, night stands...and found nothing. So we called to request a couple of the cables and once again were asked "did you check your closet?" ...then 20 minutes later, NO sight or update from clerk so we called again...and once again were asked "did you check your closet?"....and promised 10 minutes to bring it up. 15 minutes later, cables were brought up by a clerk and was asked again "did you check your closet?" and the clerk gave my husband a look as if he stole something?! THIS WAS EXTREMELY RUDE!

Our non-smoking room became a smoking lounge as our neighbor guest decided to cough and smoke at the same time...all night long and also early in the next morning. We asked the nite clerk whether we the floor was non-smoking and was 'assured' that it was but yet...we can smell smoke when there's no other external vents and nobody in the courtyard was smoking...in fact, nobody was in the courtyard! They did not even offer to switch us rooms...NOTHING.

I am extremely disappointed at this hotel and would not go back. This is the 2nd time I have been disappointed by a Marriott in the bay area.

just stayed at this hotel hours ago. I am a silver elite member of the marriott reward program and had requested foam pillows instead of feather, early check in and room with chair and ottoman.

Called hotel requested availability of my room...front desk cleark said: 3 pm without checking a ---- thing. I requested and spoke to manager reminding them about how to take care of guests. Room was ready right away thanks to manager...so DEMAND the manager if you don't get what you want right away.

Went to room...found out there is only ONE elevator in the whole hotel and it was a LONG walk to my room. Terrible set up if you travel with senior citizens or wheelchair.

Room was nicely done in the renovated blue carpet and floral bedspread of the new hotels.

Chair did not have an ottoman and I had to call for it...20 minutes.

Pillows were not right...half an hour

Screen on window broken....fixed upon my schedule.

courtyard very pretty trees.

be careful, but this hotel is ok...try the pasta pomodoro for food

We stayed here for 4 nights in June with a large family group in town for a wedding. We had a suite: 2 queen beds in a separate room, twin couch pull out, small fridge and microwave. The room was very clean and looked out over the interior courtyard, which was a great place for our large group to congregate. We called to ask for extra pillows and towels and they arrived promptly. The hotel is in a good location with a Costco across the street, a shopping center (Target, etc) an easy 2 minute drive away, a Safeway grocery store and drug store 1 block away, and numerous restaurants less than a 5 minute drive. Getting to the hotel is very easy as they are a block away from the exit/onramp from 92 - but they do need a bigger sign as it wasn't easy to spot - its a small sign about the size and at the height of an exit sign at your local McDonalds. Pool was great - but the pool floor is very slippery! The Hot Breakfast was above average - the crowd can get fairly large on weekends so get there early or prepare to wait for everything to be restocked.

Hotel staff is for the most part very friendly and helpful. There are a few who work the front desk that are worthless - if you happen to get one of these and don't like the customer service you receive, just ask for the manager or move on to one of the others working the front desk and you'll be fine. Our group had to do this on a couple of occasions and were very satisfied with the response. Avoid the local pizza place they recommend - pizza was undercooked and runny - Dominos, on the other hand, was there in 20 minutes. The front desk has a list of local restaurants with directions. We tried the Fish Market (very good) and hit B street in San Mateo (off of 3rd from 101, 5 minute drive) - definitely recommend doing this for great Italian, Taquerias, and other small ethnic restaurants - park in one of public ramps a block away and just walk down the street. Great atmosphere!

This hotel was a good base for us as we hit all the sites in the bay area and surrounding area: 45 min - 1 hr from downtown SF (pier 39 etc), Stanford, Muir Woods, Thomas Fogarty Winery, 2 hrs to Monteray aquarium. We would definitely stay here again!
