Came here for a wedding. Rooms are clean but in desperate need updating, the morning receptionist is so sweet, but nothing else is. The breakfast area is way too small to accommodate, and the food was fair at beat. Exposed plumbing, old carpet, bare thin towels...and not cheap!

We apologize for not meeting your expectations. Our room are clean and with some of the recent upgrades even more comfortable .We serve a large Hot Breakfast of eggs, waffles, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, biscuits and gravy choice of pastries and muffins... etc. Our breakfast area seats at least 20 and since not all guests come down to eat all at once it seems adequate . Yes it does get busy during summer but some guests also opt to take breakfast to their rooms.
As far as prices, all hotels do raise their prices during summer, We can ask you to try us during the fall and winter and I am sure you will find we have the best and reasonable rates in Fortuna.
We look forward to having you stay with us so we can have another chance to provide you with our best service

We stayed here in a two room suite with our 4 young children. The room was HUGE. The kids really enjoyed running around. It was clean enough and functional. Staff seemed fairly friendly.

In the morning though we discovered that the breakfast area is as tiny as the rooms are huge. People were spilled out onto the sofas and we found it very difficult to even get to the breakfast foods. People got a bit frazzled. The food itself was not nice - strange scrambled egg, scones and sausage gravy (for breakfast - really?!). It all seemed a bit cheap.

All in all, okay but don't expect a nice breakfast.

Thank you for your comments .
We are glad to hear you enjoyed your suite and services at establishment.
The breakfast area accommodates at least 20 guest or so comfortably. It does sometimes get a little hectic during summer with more guests. However our Breakfast food items are chosen from Choice brand's recommendations which are based from guest requests.
We serve a really good Breakfast with lots of items such as hot and cold eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, hot waffles, variety of cereals, pastries, fruits, yogurt , breads. There's a lot to eat and choose from .
We hope you will stop by next time you are in town and check out our recent room upgrades.

My father died last week after a lengthy illness. To honor this great man we went to the Redwoods, an 11 hour drive for me. Most people traveled 6 hours. My family tried to gather in the small dining area near the lobby provided by this hotel. The owners of the hotel at times would work at the front desk. We tend to be a very giving, polite and thoughtful family. As we were there sharing memories of my father, the owner (lady) was at the front desk telling us to shut up and running us out of the area. This lady was not very nice. There were a couple employees later who manned the desk. I asked them if we were too loud and if there were any complaints. They said "NO we were totally fine". Another employee chimed in "it's just that the boss tends to be very mean". After my fathers service ended we gathered in the same dining area at night, we had some non alcohol drinks, and desserts, we were very quiet, we asked this employee also if we were loud. They said we were fine. The next morning I went down early for breakfast just to hear this boss lady screaming at her employees because there were two trash cans almost full. Yelling, I mean yelling that "trash bags are very expensive!! They are not free!!" I really want to comment specifically on the non ownership staff, they were all wonderful, too bad they had to work for such cheap and miserable people. There were three employees in particular who were fantastic!! I do not want to give their names, because their employers seem to be spiteful and I do not want them to be fired. However they can do much better at another hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms are large, but not well cleaned. They are stingy with towels. I travel much and was amazed at how few towels were in bathroom. We stayed two nights. Both nights my AC and TV was shut off about 2 AM.

Dear DJBaker,

I've been spending time recently looking over old reviews, and I came across yours. Although it happened before my tenure here, our staff wants to offer their apology for your experience. We were purchased by a new company, who unleashed the staff to make this hotel their own. In the two years that have passed since the purchase, we have fully remodeled the hotel, and our regulars are commenting how much more relaxed this place seems; we have since went from ranking in the lower third of our hotels to the highest ranking Comfort Inn in California, with the goal of becoming one of the best in the nation! Many of our old employees remain, happier and eager to continue to feel that they are providing the best possible service in one of the best hotels in the nation.

We do hope that you will come back and see the changes. Do compare our old photos to our new ones, read the changes in the reviews, and give us another chance to win over your business!

Warm regards,
David Cisco

After driving for 10 hrs straight we needed a room and all the more desireable hotels near here were full so this was our last choice before sleeping in the car...that said I would never stay here under any other circumstance
Carpets were filthy, windows were soaking with condensation ( on a mild night ) room was old and smelled and it was surprisingly not cheap
The hotel had a pool which we did not use but you could smell 4 floors above and in all hallways
When checking out the woman at the desk was on her computer and completely ignored us until after a few minutes she raised a finger telling us to wit but never even looked up...We ended up leaving our keys on the counter and leaving without so much as a thanks from the woman at the counter
Love rudeness in a poorly run and cared for establishment _ we won't recommend or be back

Dear Jbeau,

Thank you for taking time to write a review! We appreciate all guest feedback, as it allows us to know what we are doing well and what we need to consider changing. We do take time to read every review and have incorporated many suggestions into our recent remodel - Granted, it's been 4 years since you wrote your review - But we are under new ownership and management now, and we are going through to correct many of the oversights made by the previous administration.

We have since greatly improved our breakfast scores by following the lead of one of our other hotels that offers a popular breakfast. Great eggs, biscuits and gravy, croissants, and many other fantastic items! We have become one of the best in California, although our goal is to become one of the very best in the nation!

We hope that you come see us here soon, as we want to prove to you that we are serious about guest service!

Warm regards,
David Cisco

We were pleased with our stay and the price we paid for it. We got the suite which had a king and 2 queens for our large family. It was cheaper than getting two rooms. It is hard to find hotels with rooms like this and at a reasonable price if even exists. The rooms are basic if not dated, but clean and comfortable. Great to spend the night and get back on the road. Breakfast was also a value added benefit and convenience for us. I only wished it didn't end so early. The indoor pool was fun. I would stay here again if in the area.

Thank you for you very positive comments ,We are glad you had a great time in the pool and found our 2 - room suites to be very comfortable, clean, roomy, excellent value and very reasonable.
All our rooms are very large so that guests can relax after a long drive, and now after a recent renovation and upgrade they are even more appealing to all guests.
Our Breakfast may seem short 6.30am - 9.30 am but we have guests in mind that like to eat early as well as some guests with kids that want to get that one last swim after breakfast before checking out. We may consider a different time in the future.
We hope your next visit to be even more pleasant with us next time you are in town.
