Driving up from LA and wanting to visit the redwoods the following day I made the decision to stay in Fortuna and at the Redwood Inn in particular. I think the price they charge would not be acceptable in a more popular location but since there are limited cities and hotels in this area of northern California I can see why it is justified.
With that being said I was slightly disappointed with my room. On the plus side it was quite large. I do have some minor criticisms and that is why I gave it an average rating. When I go to my room I almost always have to write something down at night. Is it too much to ask that there is some paper and a pencil or pen to use so I don't have to bring them up from my car? I also like to listen to music before I fall asleep. Why can't they buy a cheap radio/clock for each room? Even the cheap chains usually have one.
The breakfast was acceptable and in a large room. The employees I encountered were very pleasant and professional. Just know that at this price you are paying for convenience and location and not luxury and I think you will be satisfied.More
