Excellent dinner at the harbor. Mayan Fusion was new to us and we loved every bite. I had king salmon fish tacos and they were prepared to perfection with wonderful flavor. My wife had the fish and chips which were lightly breaded, flavorful, and delicious. We capped off the meal with some spicy chocolate ice cream which is a must try.

We were fascinated by the abstract name of this restaurant, Mayan Fusion. Thankfully our curiosity had us enter and be seated. I was at first impressed with the white linens on the tables as well as the selection of plates. Both much to my liking. We were greeted with quick, friendly service and when we inquired, we were given the explanation of the delightful blend of flavors and ingredients used to present surprisingly delicious servings. The tortilla was homemade, the fish, oh so fresh, and just slightly breaded-perfect!The Mayan coleslaw was actually a favorite for the both of us. How unusual is that? And the fries had that zip of lemon which made them oh so unusual. Very tasty. Had we stayed longer in the area, we would have definitely returned to treat our taste buds to several more selections. We found out upon departing that Mayan Fusion had only just recently opened. We wish them much success as they certainly offer a unique culinary dining experience.

A new restaurant owned by a seasoned restauranteur.
We arrived at 6pm on a Friday hoping it would not be too busy as reservations are only taken for large parties. We were in luck and beat the rush. It is not an overly large place but has a small bar if you have to wait. Although it is down at the harbour there is no view as such but the food is worth going for.
Crab empanadas for starters with a bit of a kick to the Mayan pickled habanero onions. Three different entrees, fish & chips, fish tacos and enchiladas. All square plates polished clean however I had expected my fish & chips to have a bit more bite to them as the menu describes them as "having a touch of Cajun spice & lemon". The "crispy fries" were regular shoestrings, shame, I like a chunkier chip. The Mayan coleslaw was a tasty side. Hubby and our friend stated the black beans were very good. Hubby did mention that he thought there was a little too much lime in the dishes for his taste.
There were several desserts to choose from and my cheesecake was a delicious chunk, the Volcano Cake disappeared quickly too. All the food was well presented.
The service was good but one thing that irked me slightly was having the bill brought to us before the dessert even arrived. I have to say this is a common practice in the States and one I am not too fond of (perhaps we all look shady characters, dine & dash). All in all a good experience and I will be going back to try some of the other dishes.
Prices were reasonable - 4 beers & food for 3 just under $100.
