My husband and I were struggling to find a restaurant in Fort Bragg -- wanted something simple and not expensive. We checked several and either the prices were too high or nothing appealed to us. Then we came upon the Coffeehouse, by chance walking down a side street off the main drag. We both ordered Paninnis (spelling is probably wrong) -- they were nice and hot, filled with great ingredients and came with a lovely side salad with lots of veggies. Both were under $10 (without tax) - very reasonable.

It was a Friday night and a Jazz trio started to play around 7 p.m. -- nice.

Would I go here again? -- Absolutely!

So glad our motel doesn't offer breakfast, because this is where we always come - over the years we've gotten to know the owners and staff who treat us like the out-of-town regulars we've become. We also frequently eat supper here so we can enjoy the line-up of jazz and other musicians who play every night from 7-10 pm. Recommend their selection of morning pastries, the Belgian waffle, fruit salad, dressed-up bagels and many, many excellent coffee choices (you can even buy the fresh beans here). In the evening, Juan usually offers two specials (carnitas burrito, lasagne or chicken quesadilla for example), one or two homemade soups (we loved the chicken tortilla and the lentil), plus a large selection of panini, salads, and quiche (I like the bacon one). The case is always full of tempting desserts and cookies, too. There is a small, reasonably priced wine list of Mendocino Co/Anderson Valley wines, local beers, a variety of teas and other beverages. Many people come to read, study, meet up with friends; it's very kid-friendly, too and after you've come a time or two, you're bound to see someone you recognize, who shortly becomes someone you know by name.

Walking into this coffeehouse felt like I was walking into a place where an eclectic group of people found a place to hang out. Some were tourists, some were old hippies, some were hipsters, and some were just older people getting a good cup of coffee. They have a good selection of coffee and the people behind the counter seemed to have a warm personality. This indeed is a great place to hang out. If you are a senior, make sure you ge your discount!

On Laurel Street, just off Main is Headlands Coffeehouse, that offers an excellent assortment of coffee, featuring an expresso bar , this family owned business offers a good place to relax and enjoy good food, including Belgian waffles with fresh fruit, grilled sandwiches, and desserts.
