The Mrs and I went to Fort Bragg for little getaway by ourselves. Wound up at the Emerald Dolphin Inn. Planned on one night, we actually spent two nights there. It's at a major intersection across from a McDonalds, but isolated enough to not notice. There is a grocery store near by with many shops (laundry, pizza, pharmacy). The Inn takes pets which was a major reason for going there. We didn't have reservations, so we called a few places once we arrived in town. There are lots of hotels in Fort Bragg, we knew we'd find something. The exterior apperance is very good, two floors of fairly modern looking buildings. Plenty of parking on well paved lot. There is a large open grassy field to the south for walkng the dogs. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. We told them we wanted to ride on the Skunk Train; they said they could order the tickets for us, which they did. They gave us infor about the town and what roads to go on for our driving vacation. The room was large, two queen beds, a nook/eating area, microwave, fridge, vanity, and of course bath room. Price was about $100 a night for the two of us plus additional $10 for the dogs. Oh yea - there is a hair stylist shop there. We had a great time. There are many other places that would charge twice the amount for the same thing. There is a road that goes west to the ocean -- cliffs are about 1/4 mile away. Nice walk, very quiet, saw 5 or 6 deer. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

Room Tip: Let the front desk know what you want and you'll get it. They had many rooms in two buildings.

Reasonable, clean & friendly. Had a wonderful stay in Fort Bragg. Hotel staff was friendly & had a great seafood restaurant recommendation. Close to a Fort Bragg walking history tour of the bay. Saw a dozen deer on our early morning walk. Room had all we needed for a comfortable stay on our route up Highway 1 on our motorcycle. recommend it to any travelers.

Room Tip: They put us in room 124 which faces away from hwy one & was quiet all night long

We booked a last minute trip to Mendocino and thanks to TripAdvisor found the Emerald Dolphin Inn. Prices are reasonable, neighbors were quiet, staff was really friendly and the bed was quite comfortable. We were just on the south side of town and 2 minutes away from the downtown and Glass Beach. We went on a nice run along a path near Glass Beach and spent the rest of our time exploring nearby Mendocino and Anderson Valley.

Though I probably won't stay in Fort Bragg again, if I were to it would be here.

I was raised in Fort Bragg. I go back to visit my father and we have stayed in a few hotels there this is one we have returned too. I love it. I love being able to go there after a full day of family and friends and being able to snuggle in my bed and sleep. It is quiet, and comfortable and very cozy. If you want a view you can go to the bluffs and watch the maginificent heart of fort bragg the ocean feel the spray smell the salty air then go to your room and rest. We enjoy the arcade and mini golf also definietly a bonus!

Before you read the rest of the review, know that we had a great time at this place and would likely go back. About a 0.5 mile walk will take you to gorgeous sunset with lots of restaurants within a 2-3 minute drive. McD and Starbucks are literally across the street. Above all, the management is friendly and courteous.

We (husband, wife and two kids) stayed there for a few nights. Its a decent place at a great price. One must realize that the locale is expensive, regardless of where you stay. This place is very affordable. However, we kinda got what we paid for.

The rooms are clean and decent but the walls are thin. Our kids are loud and I'm confident the neighbors got to hear them. The beds are ok but the sofa bed is NOT - you'll feel every spring and rod.

The continental breakfast consists of cereal, danishes and coffee. Paltry, but not bad considering its included in the price.

A number of reviewers complained about clog toilets. We had the same problem but on the last day, just before checking out. Management was gracious about it though.

Overall, we had a great time. You could spend 2-3 times as much for a local bed and breakfast and spend the evening with visiting flakes and wonder if your sheets are clean or you could choose a place like this.

This is a wonderful little "mom-and-pop" motel in Ft. Bragg on Highway 1 along the Northern California coast. Clean (spotless), well-appointed, lots of small touches one doesn't normally find -- artwork, wallpaper, nice linens, comfy beds, a safe, even a fake fireplace that seemed more sweet than kitsch. Friendly staff.

If you let it be a small-market motel, you simply won't do better. A WAY better choice than the same old Best Western or Comfort Inn! Great job!

Rooms were very clean, pleasant, quiet & extremely comfortable. A room you don't mind coming back to during the day. We particularly liked the view out the bathroom window where we watched a wild turkey tend her nest. Property is very close to a nice, interesting walk along the coast. Ocean line was visible from bath wndow. Walking distance to McDonald's (across the street), the Cliff House, and Noyo Harbor. Quaint Downtown area also close-by. Plenty to do! We enjoyed our stay very much & will be returning! Good value if you book on-line and stay 3+ nights. Ft. Bragg is the perfect combo of city/rural. Nice to relax and enjoy. You do have to be prepared for the possibility of grey skies, but it's not always that way. We were lucky and got 3 days of partial sunshine and it was beautiful. The fog off the ocean is common, but that makes it green.

Room Tip: Book on-line and stay at least 3+ nights
