Our room was on the second floor and when we looked straight down from our balcony we saw a large dirt hole in the ground. BUT, when we soaked in our plenty-big-enough-for-two jacuzzi we could look out at the ocean and hear the fog horn and smell the surf and it was lovely. We left our balcony window open and could see the beautiful ocean from our bed and slept great.

Don't listen to the negative reviews! You can't beat this hotel for the price. The room was well-kept, clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the view of the Pacific was spectacular. Many of the hotels, motels and B&Bs in this area are dirty, run-down dives that don't have the ocean views they claim. North Cliff Hotel was a pleasant surprise, and lived up to the description on their website. The in-room continental breakfasts and Bath & Body Works toiletries were nice touches. The staff was also friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

The setting is nice, the room spacious and the bathroom area was nice. That's it for the positives. The entire complex needs to be pressure washed. Algae was on the sidewalks and all over our balcony and the balcony furniture. The carpet should have been replaced several years ago. The bedding was well worn and had little balls on them. We slept in our clothes and checked out the next morning. This place couldn't be the 6th most romantic place in Fort Bragg much less the country.

Well appointed spacious rooms with great views.
The nearby foghorn does make a noise every minute or two all night long but you quickly get used to it.
The stairs are a little weird. Not handicapped accessible. The driveway is also a little weird. This place was not designed by an architect. But the rooms are very nice and large. Lounge chair, sofa, cocktail table.
The continental breakfast is already in your refrigerator- Newspaper in the morning. Free wifi.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and had a nice view. When we made the reservation they suggested the third floor for more money but I am not sure what difference it would make. And there are rather a lot of stairs to climb (more than you would expect).

Stayed at the North Cliff Hotel this past weekend. The location is promising but the rooms disappointed. The mattress was lumpy as were the pillows. The linens all had a very worn feel to them. The color scheme of dusty rose also was very out of date. Our two king suites were both spacious with large windows. We were on the 1st floor and nearest the bridge over Highway 1. Fortunately no noise. I expect the views are better at the west end of the hotel and on higher floors. A platter of cold pastries and simple fruit were in the fridge for breakfast. Having read the trip advisor reviews I expected more. We stay in Fort Bragg /Mendocino often and think there are other places that more deserve the title of most romantic. Just nothing remarkable or great about this place.

Room Tip: Pick something on floor number 2 or higher and on the west end - lower numbers like 200-205, 300-305, 400-405.
