It's really a shame, because the location is great. But the hotel is terribly rundown and creepy. Awful beds; damp, dreary room, with bedding so worn out you couldn't even see the pattern anymore. The carpeting was scary. The grounds are in terrible shape, too. The restaurant was closed the night we were there, and there is NOTHING right nearby. We ended up getting sandwiches in Mendocino and having a 'picnic' in the room. The only saving grace is the view: from our terrace we looked directly on the small private beach. The sound of the waves all night was very soothing.

"Breakfast' was a joke: bad coffee and a box of supermarket powdered doughnuts.

There are very few places to stay in this area that aren't B&B types establishments; too bad someone doesn't buy this place and fix it up.

Hi....warning....the hotel doesn't look anything like their website photos! We found the place to be old, dreary, depressing. The grounds are badly in need of maintenance and the tennis courts look to need some repair. There's a restaurant there, but a cheap looking place that I'd be nervous about taking my family. Our room was basic...not pine interior like the photo...but old painted, with old bedding. We only got a small fridge, had to pay $10 extra to get the microwave, but skipped that. The room was one of the largest I've been in, and it has a small porch. We walked down to the beach which was nice, and the state park it is near is pretty. But, I think I'd stay somewhere else.
Frankly, we're not sure why anyone would stay in Ft Bragg anyway. We did the Skunk train which was fun, but otherwise the town looks like a 'hasbeen'...and has little charm. Pick another town! In retrospec, we should have done the train in the morning...then moved on. Maybe the Mendicino gardens...but didn't have time for that as they closed at 5:00 (just about when the fog is lifting). Steer clear of the Cliff House, and even the Starbucks had bad coffee !

My wife and I stayed in the Pine Beach Inn a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that this is a kind of place that you do not find often. We stayed in the Sea Breeze building and it felt like a guest room instead of a hotel room. The private beach was so beautiful and sometimes we were the only ones there despite there being other guests in the motel. The staff was so nice and helpful from the time we checked in until the time that we checked out.

This hotel looks nice on the internet but when you get there you realize that it needs a lot of work done to its outdated rooms. Our room, which was downstairs in the double floor complex, was old and smelt damp. To top that the floor boards creaked terribly so we got disturbed every time the people in the room above walked around their room. The described kitchenette consisted of just a microwave and a small fridge with nothing else! There was no cutlery, crockery or coffee maker in the room. The other amazing thing was that the continental breakfast was served in the reception area. There was nowhere to sit and eat it so we had to take the breakfast back to the room. There were no trays provided so it was a juggling act carrying it all back! All in all we were very disappointed.

This place has great potential, but the rooms need a lot of work. We had an oceanview room. It appeared the furnishings had not been updated for several years. The bathroom floor was dirty and there were none of the basic amenities that most hotels provide. Instead there were paper thin sheets, old, ratted, bedspreads and cheap half ply toilet paper. The staff was polite and there is a beautiful, private beach accessible from the hotel which made made staying in the rooms bearable. I have stayed in a variety of places on the Mendocino coast there are definitely places that are nicer for a comparable price so I encourage you to do your homework.

For the money this is really the best deal in this beautiful area!

The rooms are average, but clean, the beds are comfortable. The best part is that you will have your own little private beach cove just steps away from your room!!! Most hotels with this access will be $150-200 at a minimum. We paid $109.

The person at the desk is very nice and helpful. No free breakfast or anything like that here, but if you just want to be by the beach this is it!!

We booked a quick weekender and were very happy with the rate and the great private beach. We have our best vacation photos from their beach at about 10AM...Our room (facing the highway) was quiet and HUGE and it is just enough off the beaten path to miss the tourist-y congestion and noise...great place for family with kids or a younger couple who wants to get away on the cheap but still get to experience the coast. Perfectly 1/2 way between Mendocino and Fort Bragg but without any pretense or snobbiness. We really loved staying there and it was a great value.
