“Great fo Fans of Sea Glass”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2014

This museum is specifically targeted for those of us who enjoy roaming the beaches looking for the increasingly elusive sea glass. The variety of glass colors on displays is impressive, and the history of glass beach is explained. The gift shop offers some lovely jewelry and books on this subject. We purchased the autographed History of Glass Beach by Capt. Cass as a memento of our trip up to the north coast. A must stop before heading over to Glass Beach!

“A Gem of a Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Well worth stopping in. The paradox of this tiny home-grown museum is it's bigger than expected, with several rooms and lots of multimedia to enhance the displays. The only off note was the audio combining into a cacophony in between rooms. The collections are fascinatingly diverse and beautiful. I was so impressed I contributed to the local economy with both a donation to the museum and a purchase of Cap'n Cass's History of Glass Beach (personally signed).

“Worth stopping in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

We have been collecting sea glass for several years now and finally made it in to see his museum. The collections are well marked and explained. The tape of his interview about sea glass was extremely informative and worth listening to. I recommended taking the time to stop even if you don't collect sea glass.

“The reality did not match the hype.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014

We visited just after Labor Day 2013. Pretty easy to find, just head for the beach from the 1st light if entering from the North. Program "Glass Beach Drive" into your GPS. Lots of parking, short walk to the beach. Eroded bank makes access a little tricky but certainly doable. Once on the beach it was a little disappointing to see how small an area is actually 'glassy'. It was also sad to see over 20 people with plastic grocery bags picking glass and carting it away contrary to all the signs stating it is illegal to do so. We did have a wonderful stay at a state park/campground just north of Fort Bragg with an amazing beach walk and sunset. Bottom line? Stop in if you were going to Fort Bragg anyway but don't make it a destination.
