My husband and I enjoy the Fort Bragg Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens every month of the year. Become a member and get in free any time you want to go for a beautiful walk. I have taken many children to the gardens and we have enjoyed the vegetable gardens, dahlia garden, children's activities, and picnics along the way. A special retirement party was hosted at the gardens which was a beautiful setting. I have seen many whales passing by in February and March, so the walk to the ocean is well worth it! The ocean views are awesome. I can't say enough about these wonderful gardens and all of the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. And, the gardens are dog friendly, too! We always take our guests to the botancial gardens for a special treat when they visit. Thank you for these beautiful gardens!!!

The gardens are beautiful, though not as manicured as say the Buschart Gardens in Victoria. We strolled through until we came out by the sea where we spent at least an hour admiring the view. The folks there were wonderful, even providing a motorized wheelchair for a small price. Do not miss this treat.

Gorgeous and immaculately maintained lovingly by the area docents. Take the time to hike through to the ocean and stop and smell the flowers along the way!

First, the "docent" was a horticulturist who has worked at the gardens for years and been deeply involved in the re-modeling/restoration efforts: hands-on. The one hour tour became a fascinating 3 hour tour as Mario explained the various micro-climates, soils, and ecosystems withing the gardens. He also discussed in detail the various efforts at restoration of native plants & trees and removing invasive, "introduced" species. We saw the actual perennial gardens, the woodlands area, and the beachfront/headlands area. All in all, a highlight of our trip.

Cute and fun place good for families. Nice things to look at. Cool birds too. Great for family fun. But not enough to do.
