“Very ltitle glass”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

It was somewhat glittery and pretty because it's a beach and beaches are pretty.. but it does not seem very special. There were tons of people leaving with empty buckets, possibly hoping to collect glass. There is not a TON to do in the area, so stop by if you have time, but don't come with high expectations. Then eat at the delicious hamburger place across the street, Jenny's.

“Where is the glass?”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

I almost missed this beach simply because I could not find the glass. And then I saw people walking around with bags filled with glass and then I realized why it doesn't look like the pictures because every day dozens of people take the glass away from the beach. I was there about 1 hour and saw 5 different people with bags. Not sustainable and extremely selfish behavior. The coast itself is lovely - so that is worth a visit, but sad to see that people can't leave the glass alone (despite signs telling them that collecting is prohibited).

“Was once a dump!”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

The Glass Beach was, at one time, a dump. Residents threw their junk and garbage over the cliff onto the beach. Over the years the waves have washed the beach, now a State Beach, clean and what's left are pieces of glass in areas on the beach. It is a beautiful place to stop.

“Glass Beach”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

It is so sad that people come to this beach and carry the glass away by the bucketful! The glass is a completely nonrenewable resource and nothing will be left in just a few years at this rate :(

“Anniversary weekend in Fort Bragg”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We had visited a glass beach a few years ago and this fell short of being impressive. The view of the ocean from that particular area was great and the trails were easy to follow but there didn't seem to be much glass left.
