“Farmhouse Inn-Excellence in the Russian River Valley”
Reviewed June 16, 2008

My husband spent two wonderful nights at the Farmhouse Inn and wish we could have extended our trip to stay longer. We were greeted at check in by extra friendly staff, and quenched our thirst over sparklingly water while they helped us plan our afternoon. Their amazing attention to detail starts in the room where you have freshly baked cookies waiting and soft music playing in the background. We were also treated to two chocolate truffles, to celebrate our anniversary. While you might think skipping breakfast, as it starts at 9am, you can’t miss it. We had two wonderful breakfasts that kept us full during all those wine tastings just down the street on West Side Road. I can’t say enough about the staff and their knowledge of the area for wineries to visit, places to shop and eat and if you want to splurge you have to have dinner at the Inn. Dinner was an event in and of itself and we had an amazing meal with wonderful wine pairings to celebrate our anniversary and then spent the rest of the evening sipping wine and toasting gourmet marshmallows over the fire pit. If you are planning to spend anytime in the Russian River Valley The Farmhouse Inn is the place to do it!

The Farmhouse Inn in the heart of the Russian River Valley is the perfect base from which to taste wines in the Sonoma Valley. This is what I call a "detail place"....the staff is helpful, friendly, and professional. My wife loved her treatments at the spa, and I loved the fresh baked cookies and cold milk delivered to our room each day. Breakfast and dinner at the Farmhouse restaurant were both excellent. We particularly enjoyed the little details that made our room special: a fireplace, a sauna, a wonderful jacuzzi tub, and walls covered with romantic passages from Hemingway's "A moveable Feast". Only one negative .... we didn't stay long enough.

We stayed at The Farmhouse for 2 nights recently and we wish it could have been more! The rooms are charming and cozy, but has everything you need. The food was just outstanding! We ate at the excellent restaurant, but equally enjoyed the beautiful breakfasts each morning on the deck. Thanks to the friendly and warm staff for making our visit so delightful! We hope to come back someday! Iris & Sam Hodulich, Birmingham, AL
PS: I would love the recipe for the "brioche ricotta french toast"!

We recently spent three nights at the Farmhouse Inn and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway.

The location is great - there are numerous wineries very close by and it was just a short drive to the lovely town of Healdsburg and the amazing Redwoood forests.

The property itself is just lovely too. The buildings are all beautifully presented and the gardens are stunning. We stayed in room #1 which was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The only down side was that it was quite close to the road which is quite busy and a bit noisy. It was too warm when we were there to use either the in-room sauna or the fireplace, but we made very good use of the nice deep bath tub in the room instead, and also spent a lot of time at the lovely pool area.

We dined in the resturant on our first night and our meal was delicious - I can see why the rabbit is a signature dish! The breakfasts each morning were also excellent and the service was always impecable.

The attention to detail throughout our stay was outstanding - nice touches like fresh milk + cookies being delivered to your room each day, plus a selection of complimentary snacks and soft drinks were all wonderful and very much appreciated.

We had a really enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend it to others and hope to go back again.

Where to begin? From the amazing concierge service I received before our stay to the personalized attention we received during our stay, we could not have been happier with the Farmhouse. Such a beautiful location in the heart of wine country. The drive to Napa took roughly an hour, but there are literally hundreds of wineries only a stone's throw away.

My husband and I were celebrating our 6 year anniversary. Sadly, we were only there for 4 short days, and we were meeting up with friends each day. As such, we were only able to enjoy their delicious breakfast on one occasion which was a sin and a shame. But the weather could not have been more perfect, the food more delicious, or the staff more enjoyable.

We stayed in Room 1, and while I was a bit concerned about road noise being so close to the front of the property, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very well insulated, and we barely ever heard road noise. Every day, our refrigerator was restocked with bottled water and fresh milk to go with the freshly baked cookies that were left by our bedside as a turndown amenity. And they were delicious! The whirlpool tub was heavenly and the dry sauna was exactly what the docotor ordered. FYI, if you HAVE to be connected, the rooms are all equipped with WIFI. Cell phone service can be a bit spotty, but what do you expect? You're supposed to be getting away from all that on vacation anyway, right?

At the main check in lodge, complimentary amenities abound, such as homemade granola, licorice whips, bottled water, wine infused sodas, a flavored Pellegrino bar, and ingreditents to make your own homemade smores. Also, a selection of bath amenities are available to you, and you can even borrow from their DVD library. But the best feature of the Inn...they ship! As in, all that wine you bought that the wineries couldn't ship back home. This was a life saver for us! Just fill out a short form, and they take it from there.

Our final day, we were checking out very early, so we requested a continental breakfast. To our surprise, it was ready and waiting for us when we returned on our final night. Homemade granola, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, and cookies. What a spread! Oh, and be sure to write about your stay in the lovely journal they have in each room. And be sure to read what those before you wrote. It's a heartwarming experience.

The next time we visit, we will be sure to make time to eat dinner at the restaurant, swim in the pool, take in a spa treatment, sit by the outdoor firepit, visit the Pilates studio...all things we were too pressed for time to enjoy this time around. Be sure to plan out your days with enough "down time" to enjoy everything this charming B&B has to offer. The Farmhouse has a patron for life!

Thanks- you were great fun to have!
We love what we do, and this is why! I'm so glad you enjoyed the new Guest Services building- we just opened a few weeks ago, and the response has been amazing. We've been playing around with different flavors of Italian sodas and different bath salts- sort of to "go with" the weather. I'm glad you enjoyed them and your stay with us.
We've recently done a little more work on room 1- and we're hearing great feedback about the lack of sound getting in- so yeah!
We can't wait to see you again- and have some more surprises in store for the next visit!
Best,
Catherine and Joe

Great breakfasts...you have to wake up for them!! Fresh OJ and yummy dishes like cinnamon french toast with fresh, local strawberries and walnuts. Room was clean and staff was very friendly. We were looking for something that was not a bed and breakfast, and this place is great because the rooms are off to the side and the breakfast is set up like a restaurant. Bathroom in room was great...clean and had nice lotions and shampoo etc... We stayed four nights and liked it a lot! It's a great location if you want to do the wineries in that area. We really liked Hop Kiln, Clos du Bois, Benziger!!! Martinelli down the road has complimentary wine tasting and Hop Kiln is also complimentary. Stay here!

The Farmhouse is located in the center of the most beautiful wine country in the world. The staff is outstanding and our room was very comfortable and private. We had our own Dry Sauna in the room plus a wonderful soaking tub in the bathroom. The room also had a small refrigerator with bottled water. Every night we were given fresh baked warm cookies and milk. All the linens in the room were outstanding including the wonderful lined bath robes. The guest center provided a nice variety of free bath salts, snacks and nonalcoholic beverages for guests. The Spa is beautiful and sits in a very quiet peaceful location behind the swimming pool. Our stay was wonderful and we will return. This is a wonderful small family operated business that includes a very personal touch. They also serve a fantastic breakfast. Our stay was well worth the expense!
