“Ample Service at Ample Cost”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

It is a hotel suffice for nature lovers who love being outdoors. We ended up just sleeping and bathing at the hotel since most of our time was spent enjoying the natural beauties of Perlis

Good:
=====
1. It is stone throw away from the Seafood Eatery of Kuala Perlis.
2. Ample spacious parking. Even the newbie drivers can park blind-folded.
3. Nice, cooperative staff.

Poor:
====
1. Clogged pipe from the bath tub. Fix the plumbing. Yes, your water pressure is low but low water pressure is not so yucky as immersing your feet in the ever-so-slowly-flowing water out of the bath tub. Double yucky if you have to shower longer due to low water pressure but it also means that you have to leave your feet longer in the soapy yucky water i the bath tub. I ended up showering outside of the tub. :(

Suggestion:
=========
1. Get a fan for each room. The personal air conditioner provided in each room could cost a bunch if handled by the guests who are not sensitive in preserving the ozone layer. One can turn the air conditioner on while keeping the doors to the balcony open. A fan could save the hotel a bunch of the electricity bill. A use of fan would also reduce the energy needed to cool off the room faster.

Room Tip: Room 421 - not a sea view room but it has a king bed, a big family area, and it can even fit four mo...

I stayed here yesterday night cuz I was in Kuala Perlis to attend a friend's wedding and would prefer to have a place to bunk before driving back to Penang..

Pros:
- lively Kuala Perlis area, with lotsa food stalls and restaurant nearby
- plenty of parking
- big room (comparatively. Those who had been to Japan would agree with me LOL)
-convenient for people going to Langkawi via boat
- housekeeping service was prompt. I requested for a hairdryer and quickly got one sent to me
- sleep quality was good
- free newspaper and kudos to the staffs for cleverly figuring out which newspaper to deliver to me :)

Cons:
- plain breakfast with not many selections...I love the curry puffs though :)
- pretty pricey for a hotel of its quality. I suppose the price was jacked-up due to school holidays
- stains on the bedsheet
- the room smelled funny, as though it hadnt been lived in. I had to open the window to air the room
- my room was facing the Kuala Perlis bus terminal, so I didnt have to deal with the loud music from the bar
- the air-cond of my room was leaking in the morning. Good thing I just stayed one night and I reported it to the front desk
- the decor and toilet amenities were rather dated.
- no wifi in the rooms

Conclusion:
- decent place to bunk over for a short stay

Room Tip: For a good night's sleep, choose the rooms facing the bus terminal. You may miss out on the nice...

Stayed here for 1 night on business.
My friends informed me of several possible reasons for the overall poor quality of the hotel, but I shall not delve into them here.

Sleep quality was bad for a couple of reasons:
1. Pillow was made of hard foam.
2. Music from house band at the ground-floor lounge could be heard throughout the hotel. I was initially assigned room 332 which was directly above the band - the noise was terrible, even 3 floors above. They switched me to the 4th floor (the highest floor), at the other end of the building. The music could still be heard but was bearable. They only stop at midnight, so an early night's sleep is definitely out.

Water pressure was low, especially in the morning. I am not sure if this only applies to the higher floors. Low water pressure or loud music: what a choice.

Fixtures are a bit grungy. My colleague, staying in another room, found stains on her towel. My towels were just old and smelt of baby powder. There was a brown stain, though, on the curtains (I was optimistic and assumed it was coffee).

On the plus side, my room had a 32in LCD tv with satellite channels, although this (the flat screen) is not available in all rooms.

Across the road is a wide selection of seafood stalls, a night market and a mosque. It's also quite close to the ferry to Langkawi, perfect for catching that first boat out. Yes, it's quite a lively area, so if you value these amenities more than sleep, this hotel is perfect for you.

A tip: Avoid rooms numbered x13 and above - these are located at the wing directly above the band.

I always stay here as my stop & rest point to enjoy fresh seafood,sea view and shopping at Langkawi,Bukit Kayu Hitam,Padang Besar,Wang Kelian and other ground ativities.
With complete room facility hotel also provide free daily news paper & breakfast. More interesting is free live band from 9pm to 12midnite while enjoying a cup of coffee. Other important very big space parking too for my lovely Triton pick-up.

Room Tip: Rooms at 4th floor facing seaview

Stay here 1 night because we miss the last ferry to Langkawi. Affordable rate, average decor. Room and bathroom was clean, cable TV available. Very near to Seafood stall (many of them)... delicious too.... very near Jetty Kuala Perlis to Langkawi. Suitable for family overnight before proceed to Langkawi. Quite windy when I was there, very nice.

I stayed there on 10 December 2012. No doubt, the rooms were cheap. It may not be that bad overall but let me put it in perspective. It had a trip advisor sticker on its main door. A real sellout on trip advisor (he he).

The thing about Kuala Perlis, is that it is an estuary and boats land there with fishes. Not bad ya. It means cheap seafood. That's true. The problem with this hotel was there was backflow of fishy smell when you use the toilets. I suppose, the winds were strong and when you used the toilets, the fishy smell crept up into your room. The hotel was sited hardly 50 meters from the sea, so that probably explained it.

There were guests at the hotel dining area, at night, with karaoke and big screen showing football games.

But for me, unlikely to go there again.
