Simpler than some of the more expensive resorts, Bay of Plenty Lodge is run by a small team of warm and welcoming Fijians.
Danny the manager/bartender/waiter greets everyone with big hugs and runs the hilarious Fijian language lesson. He's also a great storyteller and card player. The food (incl in the price) is creative fresh and delicious. Do all free activites - the basket weaving, coconut demo and farm visit were brilliant and we felt like we really knew Fiji after that.
The resort doesn't have a beach but it's a hassle-free transfer to the white sandy beach where the Blue Lagoon movie was shot and there the snorkeling and swimming is good. Take your own snorkeling equipment - you can borrow some but it's well used.
The bures have a great view and we slept soundly because they proudly only use solar power so it's dead quiet.
I definitely recommend this place as part of your Yasawa island hopping.
