“A Perfect Zoo for Young Children”

Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary
Ranked #1 of 31 things to do in Folsom

If you want to stand just a few feet away from the monkeys or tigers or bears, and perhaps ride a little steam train past peacocks roosting in the trees, then come to the Folsom Zoo and Sanctuary. We love to take our grandchildren there and stroll among the animals, stop to watch the roosters and chickens (with chicks every spring) wandering among the bushes out front, ride on the steam train, and then play at the adjacent playgrounds and have a picnic. It's a really great place with a reasonable price and very easy to get to from anywhere in the Sacramento area. The parking is free and very close to the entrance. It's a win-win for everybody!

Up close with some animals who can never be release into the wild. Bears, foxes, bobcats, eagles, even some wolves. Small but well-kept.

It's small but pretty. They save wildlife, so they are a zoo sanctuary. Can see the animals up close and personal, especially the bears.

Folsom Zoo is not very big but it has some fun animals. Many are animals not wanted by other zoos due to physical disabilities. We loved taking our girls there when they were younger. It also has a great park to play in on the same property.

They have a few California bears. You can see why we should not feed wild animals and what happens to them when we do. Lots of chickens roam the place. It isn't your typical zoo, so if you are looking for a giraffe, this isn't your place.
