“Great Find. Lots of Beer on Tap and Tasty Burgers.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2012

We decided to make an early dinner stop on our way home from South Lake Tahoe. So we checked out yelp and did a search for burgers around El Dorado Hills and Folsom. Samuel Horne's Tavern was highly rated so we decided to give it a shot. We really enjoy the charm of downtown Folsom and its history. Samuel Horne's Tavern is a part of a group of historic buildings. The ceilings and walls were classic.

I ordered the Johnny Cash Burger (Topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and bourbon-espresso redeye sauce) with Bacon Blue Cheese Fries and a Ruthless Rye IPA. I ordered the burger medium rare and it was fixed perfectly. The sauce with the bacon and cheddar cheese was super tasty. The Bacon and Blue Cheese fries were not what I was expecting. I was thinking they would just be smothered in it. But they were not. Lightly covered and very good.

My wife got the Sam's Classic Burger and it was awesome as well.

Great place! We will be back.

Tip: You seat yourselves and once your ready to order you need to go to the bar. The bartender will take your food and drink order and then your food will be delivered later.

“Food average, Beer is outstanding”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2012

I think Samuel Horne's is great as a place for awesome micro-brews, but it's a very small pub which gets extremely loud when it is at full capacity. The place is small.

The beers are just amazing, the prices fair, and you just can't say enough about their beer-tenders, great service overall.

The problem here is food, it's hit and miss. At least the several times I have been here that has been the case.

I go to this restaurant regularly and the beers always draw me in. It is not super popular so you'll often have a less than packed experience, and enjoy yourself with your friends.

“Cozy Atmosphere, O.K. Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2011

We enjoyed lunch at Samuel Horne's. It is small and charming with a feel somewhat like an old British pub. It has a great selection of beers (although we didn't try any, since we had a full afternoon ahead of us and didn't want to get lazy). The food was good, but not memorable, but they do have some good lunchtime deals going on. It seems it would be fun to hang out in Samuel Horne's Tavern with a few friends, have some beer, and a little pub grub.

“Great little beer and food joint in old town Folsom”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2010

Samuel Horne's Tavern is a great little beer and food joint located on Sutter Street in old town Folsom. The decor and ambiance in this place is retro early 1900's, there are some really cool old vintage beer signs and several chalkboards with specials and info.
There are no waiters here, you order at the counter where you select one of the fine beers listed on chalkboard mounted on the wall above the draft spouts and order your food.
First of all the selection of beers is outstanding but they take it one step further with their food which is all very very good. They have an eclectic selection of custom gourmet burgers with some of the best fries I've ever had. I highly recommend the Johnny Cash Burger along with some chili cheese fries - yum!
Samuel Horne's Tavern is currently running some great 5 dollar lunch specials, get on over to Folsom and check them out soon - you won't be disappointed.
