We stayed two nights in a cottage room, a bit dark but that was a consequence of the nice setting in the trees and just 5 minutes walk to main reception and pool area. Good pool rea with sun loungers and towels. Meal in the Jackalope restaurant was good with friendly service.

Beautiful lodge with spa and restaurants perfect after a day of hiking. Enjoy a massage or steam/sauna in the spa. Good food in the dining area, cute gift shop and very comfortable rooms. Lodge is large with pools, Yoga, hikes and activities for kids....got lost several times!

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view - ours was the parking lot, but we did not request otherwise.

Poor experience. We sat down at 8:45 PM. The restaurant closes at 10:00. The entire visit, the wait staff seemed to want us to leave ASAP; it felt like they wanted to close up and go home. They brought out all the appetizers at the same time as they brought out our entrees. One of the items we ordered was the Carnitas Nachos. They arrived with hardly any carnitas or cheese, and the waitress forgot to bring the guacamole we ordered with them. Another in our party ordered the kale salad. It arrived with the items listed...except for the kale. Instead, it had coke slaw (same as served with the fish & chips that smother of our party ordered): ridiculous. If the kitchen had run out of cheese, carnitas, or kale, they should have told us and we would have ordered other items. This experience made us feel that the restaurant doesn’t really care about its guests. I hope spect more, especially given the prices (nachos were $20!). The next evening at 5:00, I wanted a drink on their outside patio. The host or manager told me those tables were reserved for people ordering dinner and I’d be more comfortable on a chair in the lawn area. Well, half the tables were still empty and I feel he shouldn’t assume where I’d be more comfortable. I do understand they’d like to hold those tables for dinner guests but feel he could of said something like “We’d be glad to seat you there but we do need the tables for dinner guests around 5:30 or 6:00.” That would have been more guest-centric, reasonable, and professional. Anyway, this restaurant has definitely been “minor league”: it should be better managed to endure reasonably welcoming experience for its guests.

First the not so great stuff (as management need to know this):

The rooms are well appointed but the bathroom door was a roller door which was noisy to use and we felt might disturb guests in the night. It also didn’t shut well so if you’re with a friend or a new couple you may feel the privacy is lacking if you’re on the toilet! Surely a standard door could be installed.

The indoor pool changing facilities were just odd. There were lockers with no keys! There are two toilet cubicles with no wall hooks to hang clothes - this is simple and cheap to rectify.

The early breakfast selection in the shop (pre 7.30am) wasn’t great at all. It consists of pastries filled with sweet junk. Even croissants are filled with Nutella. Just some simple plain cake or simple plain croissants would be nicer AND HEALTHIER. We don’t all need a mass of calories if we are leaving the hotel early.

On the plus side: Great location well positioned to the National Park. The room we stayed in was well appointed, the bar and diner was lively and relaxed, staff were super friendly and the pool area was great. WIFA is free and strong throughout the hotel.

We would highly recommend this hotel but with some refinements mentioned above this would be a truly high class hotel.

We stayed in one of the cabins. We didn’t really know what to expect, so it would have been worth stopping off at the village shop for a few provisions. They have a happy hour around fire pits, and a shuttle bus to take you to the main restaurant area. Jeff was particularly helpful in assisting us to get the best out of our stay
