We came across this place when we visited Yosemite and stayed at the adjoining bed and breakfast (which by the way is wonderful but expensive). We had dinner here twice.

As a lot of the items on the menu were very expensive (many entrees going higher than 30 dollars) we both had the 'french dip' the first night: a wonderful fresh bun with prime rib, horseradish sauce and an exquisite dipping gravy for 15 dollars. For the quality: excellent value for money!

The second night we found out about the 'sunset menu': soup or salad and smaller entree for a greatly reduced price. You have to order before 18:30 though. My girlfriend had the salad (ok) and the pasta salad (good). I had the clam chowder (wonderful) and the salmon with pilav rice (perfect). Total bill including a beer: just over 30 dollars.

Highly recommended for the quality of the food. The early bird menu is also highly recommended for the value.

Service and staff very friendly and correct.

We ate twice at the Narrow Gauge Inn Restaurant and the atmosphere was nice with a Log Cabin ambiance. The food was good but very expensive. They do have an early bird menu so the best time to go is before 6:00.

Thank srobby

Staying at Wawoma Hotel and didn't particularly enjoy the previous nights dinner and breakfast, especially the service. So searched for restaurants outside of Yosemite. Plenty of good reviews but some bad ones on the service that were a few years old. So after out day exploring Yosemite Valley we thought we'd try out the Narrow Gauge Inn. Started badly as the Satnav had the Inn on an empty part of the road. After a bit of searching we managed to find it. Anyway sorry for the waffle but got to say we were greeted well. The waiter Ron was great and catered for all the kids needs (age 4 & 7). Food was excellent the kids had Spaghetti with meat sauce - my son cleared it in silence. Coconut prawns could have done with a nice dip (sweet chilli sauce) but were still very nice. Lamb Shank and veg very good as was my wife's chicken pasta. Too full for pudding but a nice variation of offerings available. Enjoyed the Hawaiian Lager. Water refilled whenever the glasses were low. Good selection of wines available. Ron catered for the kids by fulfilling their simple requirements to the tee. So lovely homely restaurant. Staff very friendly despite not getting my joke about an earthquake moving the Inn causing our Satnav issues.

We really enjoyed the wonderful steak dinner at the Narrow Gauge Inn Restaurant, the excellent service, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the charming setting. We shared a dinner which was plentiful and more than enough for two of us. Loved it. Will be back.

We only had the opportunity to eat one meal here. This was the best meal we had in our whole 3 week trip in California. The food was fantastic, as were the staff. We stayed in a nearby hotel but if we ever come back, we will stay here.
