What a sweet little inn. We drove up from Morro Bay for a two day getaway and we were so impressed. Check-in was a breeze, nice front desk staff in fact everyone we encountered from Front desk staff to groundskeepers and Dorothy in the restaurant were very friendly and accomodating. Room very comfortable and clean with a beautiful view of the forest. The grounds are imaculately kept with flowers and lovely landscape surprises all around. Truely a jewel in the beautiful Sierra Forest.

Chose this hotel because very close to south entrance to Yosemite but would recommend it having visited for a comfortable stay
Rooms are good sized with balcony..but it is the helpful staff who make this place a find
Shane in the bar always very friendly and welcoming and loved the hunting lodge style of the bar and restaurant. Pool and hot tub very welcome after a hot days hiking and we had the bonus of a MG owners club who stayed and drove off on Sat morning in their vintage cars
Good breakfasts and nice dinner on one evening in the dining room
Foolishly on the second evening we fancied something different and went to a pizzeria a little further alnong the road..Don't! it was terrible
Say hello to the seven toed cat in the gift shop..she is adorable

Room Tip: We overheard couple complain about the noise from the extractor fan near kitchen but our room very q...

After a long hike in Yosemite Valley we were looking for a place to stay. We were referred to a place close to Narrow Gauge Inn, which was very touristy and huge. Since we prefer small, privately owned hotels we went further and found this wonderful Inn. We were able to negotiate a very fair price and got the cutest hotel room I've ever seen. It had everything you need and even more. The breakfast was amazing, everything was homemade (e.g. muffins, banana bread etc.) and freshly prepared. Even dinner at this place was a dream! Never had such a good game quality... Overall, we can only recommend this place and will surely come back!

I really liked this hotel. Yes, it is not a Ritz Carlton, but the rooms are spacious and very comfortable and very well maintained. Breakfast was very good, the diner was also pretty good and reasonably priced taking into account location. But what makes this hotel shine is the staff - the word "no" does not exist in their dictionary and they are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for three nights and we really enjoyed the hotel. We will be back one day.

Room Tip: Don;t go for the cheapest room, request a room with your own patio. The view will pay for itself.

We were on a road trip and having camped in Yosemite the night before were ready for a comfy bed. We loved the Narrow Gauge Inn as it was quirky and quite unique, different from the chains. The pool was welcome on arrival and the grounds were well laid out with lots of flowers around. The rooms were probably a little old fashioned but that was absolutely fine We had a lovely balcony overlooking the mountains perfect for chilling with a glass of wine . Staff were all very helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and breakfast was also excellent. We just wished we were staying longer....

Stayed here for one night on our road trip but wished we could have stayed longer. Very nice property close to the West Gate of the Yosemite National Park, right next to a steam railway. Staff incredibly helpful and welcoming despite our late arrival. Lovely little pool and hot tub area. Room very comfortable and pretty good breakfast (included in room rate, unusually for the US). Cozy and atmospheric bar area (you have to try the Yosemitini; it is unique).

Had a great and simple room that fit a family of five comfortably! Room was like a cabin and everyone was in a large room. Place is very clean, great condition and just a couple of miles from South entrance to Yosemite. Our kids loved the restaurant and its offering of wild game and mixed with traditional favorites! Super that the nightly rate included breakfast for all - Plus surprise ...Dorothy the breakfast server is fun and lively. Takes care of guests as family. David the restaurant manager gets you sorted with a smile and does everything to make you happy - in our case a big table in the dining chapel (which is full of big woods character!) Shane the Wine Steward at the bar is a character right out of old west - tells a yarn and keeps everyone in great spirit. Enoel (the all around good guy) keeps very busy working behind the scenes. The crew here are something special... fun and attentive. Follow Pete's advice (guest services at check in) and get to Yosemite early on weekends - avoids the line at gate...

Seems everyplace around this area has gone crazy with high prices - with a family you need value and this special place delivered. used the extra money saved to splurge a bit at restaurant making everyone happy. The Sugar Mountain railroad is next door and you can walk a path for 3 minutes to get there. This also gives you an evening option... nice adventure... highly recommend for people who want an adventure at a great value.

Room Tip: Only a a few of rooms that can fit a big family like we had - so book early.
