“Great fun for the family”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

I would highly recommend Yosemite Trails Saddle Co if you are in the Yosemite/Wawona area. If you are looking for a trail activity that takes you away from the crowds of Yosemite Valley, then this is it. My family of 4 took the 1 hour trail ride and we all had a wonderful time. From the time we checked in, the staff were all very nice and helpful. My kids (11 and 9 yrs old) and husband have ridden before, but not me. Hannah, our guide, made sure that we were comfortable on our horses by giving us basic riding instructions before we set off on the trail.

We arrived earlier than our scheduled ride, but the staff offered to let us go ahead, therefore it was just the 4 of us and Hannah on the trail. The trail was very peaceful and just what you would imagine riding in a pine forest would be. We crossed 2 creeks and stopped so that Hannah can take our photos. Being away from the Valley, we did not run into hikers or other riders. Since the horses were well-trained, even a novice rider like myself was able to enjoy the trail ride. It was a very relaxing activity, with great scenery. We would definitely be back. Next time maybe for the sleigh ride in the winter.

“All ages loved it!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

I did some research and decided on this place. We had two families, including four adults and four kids (11,10,8,and 8-years old). They set up a ride with just our group. They were more than patient with the little ones. Everyone had a great time and the kids wanted to go back. We did the one hour ride, which was enough for me (lots of dust stirred up from the horses), but the kids wanted to go more. Fun trail through heavy tree cover, climbs and down hills over difficult terrain, and even some stream crossings. Fun, Fun, Fun!

“Boring Trail Ride”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

I have been on trail rides before where there is beautiful scenery surrounding you, entertaining guides, and stops along the way to enjoy scenic overlooks; thus, I was really excited about taking a trail ride at Yosemite. We made reservations in advance for the 2 hour trail ride. The lady who checked us in when we arrived was a rude and pushy, and she was still as rude when we returned from our ride. The two guides who were helping people on and off horses and leading the rides were very nice! We had a girl guide our family. She was very polite and helpful when some of the horses were a bit stubborn. After about 30 minutes of riding, she made sure we were committed to doing the 2 hour ride and gave us an option to cut our ride down to 1 hour which I thought was very nice. We stuck with the 2 hour ride expecting to see some good views along the way. Wrong. We literally rode through a forest for 2 hours. All we saw were trees along the way. There were no scenic overlooks looking over the valleys, just trees. Our guide did not interact with us much, and we never stopped to take any photos even though the rude lady told me to be sure to bring a camera for the gorgeous views (that we never saw). If you want to do a trail ride in Yosemite, find another company with a more scenic trail (perhaps one actually in Yosemite National Park since this one is outside of the gates) or opt for the 1 hour ride because 2 hours of looking at the same dry trees is not fun. On the plus side, the horses were well-trained, and you did not have to do any work. They knew the trail on their own.

“Heaven on horseback”
Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

I've been horse riding a fair bit, but nothing like this. The horses were just beautiful and obviously very well cared for. We started off with a bit of instruction in the arena before we headed out on a big loop trail. The trail went up steps and down steps, through streams and past lookouts where the view was breathtaking. My whole family absolutely loved it. Excellent value for money and I highly recommend it.

“Superb experience”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Novice riders and thought this would be an adventure, it sure was!!
We did the 2 hour trail, and despite never having ridden before it was great fun. The horses are excellent and despite the tricky trek and creek crossings you rarely felt in any danger.
Yes a little sore fr a opulent of days after but hat won't detract from a great afternoon.
Thank you Hannah for looking after us.
