This park is spectacular, and only 15 minutes from Santa Cruz. Highly recommend the Redwood Grove Trail for young kids. Be sure you make it to the Colonel Fremont tree, which you can stand inside!

If you visit the Silicon Valley area, this state park is just 30 minutes from San Jose. The trees and trails are incredible. Access fee is $10/car. Visitor Center is nice and informative. The Redwood Grove Trail is very easy to walk (wide trails and level) so it's good for families. The Redwood Grove trail is right next to the visitor center and parking lot (very accessible) and it only takes around 40 minutes to walk and you will see some majestic trees.

This was the highlight of my trip to California from Florida. The majesty of these trees is unbelievable. My 17 year old daughter was awe struck as well which is amazing in itself. The .8 mile loop allows you to get very close to these trees. If you go you have to get underneath one of these trees and look up. It is amazing.

Beautiful park, nice river, lots of trails, everything very accessible. Will visit again. We did several trails, took the bridge across the river, visited the nature center and store.
