Unless you want to Golf, don't bother with this one.
The Rooms were old and musty. No Character and you feel very isolated from everything.
If your looking for a fun, happening hotel- this is NOT the place to be.
The wait for breakfast was 20 mins because they did'nt have adequate service. The pool was isolated and the only refreshment served was a Pepsi machine in the corner. Nuff said!

My husband and I stayed for the Memorial Day weekend, or we were planning to, anyway. We checked in Sunday around 5pm and ended up leaving the next morning. The grounds are beautiful, including the front reception area where Aquaterra is. The stay wasn't horrible, but for $200/night and 3.5 stars, we expected more. The television had an annoying buzzing noise to it for the first 15-20 minutes it was on, the bathroom tub didn't drain very well, and when we ordered room service we were missing ketchup, so we had to call room service again and wait ten minutes for it to be delivered. By then our food was cold. We ate at Aquaterra for dinner. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and several tables have excellent views of the golf course. The service was good but the food was somewhat blah.

Before we left our room I looked for a comment card to complete. I found one, but it was already filled out by another guest from their stay two months earlier in a different room. Not sure how it got there, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't read by management. As I said, our stay wasn't horrible, but we definitely wouldn't stay there again. This hotel might be a good option for golfing couples who would like to play a couple of rounds together and stay on the premises.

This is not a brand new resort, but sure is a lovely and peaceful one. Spent New Years eve weekend here and loved it. Had a difficult time trying to find a room in the area, but through Hotels it was fast, easy and affordable at the last minute. If you like the casinos, this place is a great location, just minutes away from the crowds. We had one large king room with a balcony, you can hear the small waterfall outside our room. Excellent and prompt room service and everyone was very polite. I would go back in the summer time with the kids and inlaws for tennis, swimming and horse riding. San Diego is only 50 minutes away with lots of beach and boating areas.

Pala Mesa Resort has finished with its renovations and it looks quite nice! For a wonderful golf retreat get-a-way close to both San Diego and Temecula Valley, Pala Mesa Resort is the place to be. They have a new fitness center that will have spa treatments on site very soon. I can't wait to return and have my wife experience Pala Mesa with me.

I took my mom here for a Mother's Day getaway and we loved it! WE had one of the deluxe double-queen rooms and it was lovely. The large balcony with plush and comfy chairs and table made a great place for our room service breakfast or just relaxing. The property had a lot of trees and we sat and listened to the birds. The grounds are beautiful with a lot of man-made waterfalls. We don't golf but enjoyed strolling around the grounds. The pool and spa are in a quiet relaxing area. The service is some of the best I've ever had. Sunday morning I had tendonitis and was having trouble using my right hand. Our room service waiter, Tim, took extra time and care to set everything up just as we wanted. All of the service was superior (front desk, lounge, restaurant, room service) but he was stellar. This is an easy drive from most anywhere in Souther California and we we definitely return. I can't remember the last time I had such a relaxing 3 days.

The resort is obviously showing its age. Luxurious is not a word to describe any part of our experience including the golf course. After searching the internet for golf resorts and hotels in the San Diego area for Thanksgiving through the 1st week of Dec 2003, we selected the Pala Mesa. Based on the description and photos on their web site, we expected a secluded golf resort. In actuality it was about 100 yards from the interstate highway. Secluded we got since there were very few guest and no shopping, restaurants or much to do near the resort.
Temecula Valley was 20-30 minutes away and was the most viable location to visit. San Diego was about an hour away depending on the traffic.
Our room was large enough with a balcony with dirty outdoor furniture and a very limited view of one golf hole, but was too noisy from freeway traffic to enjoy. Food at restaurant was overpriced and average quality. Will not stay here again.
