We stopped by the Jelly Belly factory completely by accident, as we were driving through the town of Fairfield en route to Napa. I think this was the highlight and certainly my four kids' most memorable experience on our one month RV tour last summer. The tour was fun, although we were herded like sheep - informative and certainly very interesting. Although we were not allowed to take any photos of the factory floors, the different areas of the facility had videos explaining the process so that we could understand what we were looking at, along with our tour guide's narrative. Plus, they gave out various samples during the tour, and afterwards, we went nuts (beans!) in the gift shop! Be sure to check out the many exotic flavors, and pick up some 'Belly flops' - misshapen and discounted jelly bellies :)

The tour of the Jelly Belly factory was so much more than we expected. For some reason I was expecting a small hokey little set up but that is definitely not the case!

The tour was very interesting and informative, we learned about all the stages of making Jelly Belly's, watched some videos on the history of the company and walked along all the stations of the factory via an enclosed walkway above the factory floor which allows you to look down through glass walls for a great view.

We also had lunch at the Jelly Belly Cafe and it was great! Again, far exceeded what we expected, the service was wonderful. In Particular a girl working the cafe part brewed us some fresh coffee and chatted to us about the factory, our trip and what it's like to work there as we waited for the coffee to brew. A+

I would suggest an early morning start as toward the afternoon it can get quite crowded. It is amazing to watch the process to make 200 flavors with the latest being the Tabasco flavor. The top three flavors are: berry cherry, butter popcorn, and licorice. They give you samplings in the store up to 3 flavors at a time. At the end of the tour, they give you a small bag to take home. The store has all the jelly bellys and you can buy them in boxes, bags, or even pack them yourself. They have many other souvenirs. It's amazing how they can make 35,000 jelly beans per minute! A great place for kids! They even have a place to have lunch, burgers in the shape of a jelly belly! Serving sizes are huge, so you might want to share those fries! The area has several places to capture a photo moment like the jelly belly car, or even the mosaics made out of jelly bellies......Elvis, George Washington, Ben Franklin etc

The Jelly Belly Factory Tour is easily accessible from the highway.
Clearly marked road signs will further help you to find your way.
The entrance to the Jelly Belly building is decorated with colorful cars, inflatables and otherwise.
Once inside of the cheerful building you need to stand in line to be placed in the next available factory tour group.
The factory tour itself is an absolute blast.
All visitors get to see the complete production process of jelly beans both in real life (from above and behind glass walls) and on instructional videos.
At the end of the tour all who are interested can get a free baggie of jelly beans and more can be purchased in the gift shop.
The gift shop is truly fun as well, with sampling counters as well as every possible jelly bean flavor you can imagine.
Don't forget to look for the large bags of Belly Flops - misshapen jelly beans at a fraction of the price.
I highly recommend this factory tour both for young and old.

Visited the factory today and my girls (8&10 yrs) loved it! At first we were a little bummed out as to how long the line was for the tour, but considering how many people were there, it moved rather quickly. I think we were in line for 40 min. The tour was interesting and fun for all of us. Our only complaint was that we couldn't take any pictures while on the tour. We heard so much about the morning traffic so we decided to head out of San Jose at 10 am and fortunately didn't hit any traffic. It was great!! Go visit it was fun!!!
