“Passing Through”

Passing though on our way to San Francisco. Stayed only 1 night. Bed is comfortable, especially like the comforter - it's light and warm and silky to the touch. Room is clean, got coffee maker, refrigerator, and a microwave. Laundry facility on the first floor. Lots of eatery around the area as well as a mall. Only negative, AC unit - it turns on and off as it adjust to the temperature and it's pretty loud when it's on.

We stopped in Fairfield on our way to Sonoma to visit friends and family in the area. The Hilton Garden Inn was close by and convenient for our needs. Upon checking in (at 4 PM), we were told we had to wait for them to see if our room was ready. It took 20 minutes for them to confirm that we could have our room, which was unfortunate since it made us late for our first visit with family. While we waited though, we enjoyed lemon water in the lovely lobby. The room was clean but had a terrible smell, which we have come to recognize as something the Hilton uses as a cleaning agent - kind of a sweet icky smell. Fortunately we were able to open the window to air out! Asked for a room facing away from the freeway, and were not adversely affected by noise. Other than that, room was clean and bed was comfortable. Good price too!
Did not eat breakfast at hotel, instead walked across parking lot to Panerra, less expensive and quicker.
Thought it was odd there was only one bank of elevators (2 together) for entire hotel and we shared them with the maid service carts...

Room Tip: If noise is an issue, ask for room facing the mall instead.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Heater not in functioning condition and in room coffee make was broken. Would be better if this was a non-smoking hotel. Restaurant's are in the surrounding area. Close to attractions.

Hotel is generally clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is nice. Rooms are average to good, but not great. Friendly Staff. Good Parking. Close to many shops, restaurants, and immediate Freeway access. A good value, even though a problem encountered was not resolved in a timely manner.

Great overall experience. Staff was very helpful and professional. Road noise was only an issue if you had your window open and were facing the freeway. Close to a lot of restaurants and stores and easy access to the freeway.

The bed was worn and uncomfortable and there were no black out curtains, only sheer curtains. The dinner was poor. The steak was way underdone, no flavor and very tough. We sent it back and did get a better steak. We also ordered the Salmon which was very good but I was done before the new steak came back from the kitchen. The cheese cake tasted as if was a re-frozen slice.
