We were just passing through town and unfortunately landed on grad night. All the hotels were nearly booked up, but even worse, they all raised their rates by 50%. We paid $180 for two people two beds. We had to go around the room and plug everything in (even lights were unplugged). Some plugs were on switches, so make sure you check before plugging in your cell phone charger. Internet was slow. BUT THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE is that the hotel installed a doorsize mirror on the back of the bathroom door. This means you are staring at yourself while sitting on the commode. Not cool.

Ot the 5 hotels we stayed in on our trip, this was the worst ! It was pouring rain when we arrived, and we were given a room in a separate building out back, on the ground floor. Got soaked in the outdoor hallway.
The room was absolutely freezing when we entered, and smelled so musty that my allergies started acting up immediately. The room was old and in poor condition.
Could not connect to the WiFi on my laptop, and the front desk person seemed disinterested in my problem.
The light dinner provided was a nice touch if you were hungry and in a hurry, although nothing fancy.
I felt this hotel was too pricey for what you got, but, to be fair, they did refund part of my fees when I told them I was unhappy with my experience there.
All in all, I would never stay there again.

The Eureka Clarion is a convenient 1 hour drive from the Redwoods. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, but a lot of the shops closed a bit early during our off season stay. The room was spacious and clean though a bit loud due to it facing the 101. It didn't wake us but was noticeable. Light sleepers might want to ask for a room in the rear.

Stayed here for one night. Staff was very friendly and room was clean. I liked the big tub in the bathroom. TV is outdated and did not get clear picture on every channel. Breakfast was standard continental style with some hot options of waffles and biscuts and gravy. Biscuts and gravy was cold I had to warm it up in microwave in my room. It is also very noisey from traffic on the road. If you are looking for an average room with a friendly staff than this is a decent hotel.

Stayed on 3rd floor, king bed. Smooth large elevator. Room was quiet all night, even though facing Hwy 101. Comfy high-thread-count-feel sheets. In-room choice of down/feather combination pillows, or down pillows. Large tub/shower, very clean. Digital and accurate HVAC thermostat kept us comfy. Free 5pm - 7pm dinner buffet with lite entree (we had pasta and soup) and salad. Free popcorn. Cost was under $100 with AAA discount in mid January 2012. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building on third floor

First of all we didn't plan on staying at a hotel, or we would have booked ahead. We came in around 2:30 AM. We couldn't find any place that still had smokers rooms available. They were very accommodating and friendly. They even gave us a later check-out. That was very much appreciated. The room was clean and spacious. The beds & pillows were wonderful ! Best night sleep, we have ever had at a hotel. We were not awaken by travelers or staff. That was a plus. Great stay for the money. We will definitely be going back here next time we are in town and advice fellow travelers of this Clarion in Eureka. We usually camp when visiting family there. But, for the money and added amenities it's worth it.

Too noisy, and the poorly lighted indoor pool had a creepy "Cat People" feel to it.
Was going to stay at the Best Western, but it was raining and hubby wanted and indoor pool.
Staff was doing laundry and talking outside our room until about 10:30 at night.
Upside was the waffles for breakfast, and front desk staff very nice.
