“Favorite Cheap Hotel on Long Road Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

I just drove 2000 miles through Northern CA and Southern OR and this was my favorite cheap hotel. What's a little odd is I can't really say why. It was clean and charming in it's retro style but I think the owners really take pride in their motel as if felt really homey, especially for being right on a busy highway. Oh, and the recommendation to eat at Lost Coast Brewery was a good one -- had a great, grass-fed burger there.

Room Tip: As someone suggested, I would ask for a room close to the back to avoid road noise.

Thank you EberAnn for your positive review. We are extremely happy that you crowned us as your "Favorite Cheap Hotel". Our property is unique to the North Coast and we will be continuing to restore this gem so that others can experience what lodging facilities were like in the yesteryears, while still providing the comforts of the modern day. This great little mid-town motel could be a destination in and of itself rather than merely a place to stay the night mid-trip. From ground level (free) parking beneath the spacious, adequately appointed rooms above, free WiFi, to a great location to get to any place one is there to see, the Town House Motel is a perfect spot. Trust me, the yellow and bright, bright blue colors and charming courtyard will make you smile and stay in your mind long after you have driven away after your stay. One other point about the management: we made the desk manager aware of our inability to access the WiFi on our iPad...he tried and tried, then tried on his smart phone-instant connection. Not one to give up, he completely rebooted this server and just like that, our iPad was connected. Now that's service above and beyond. That and his local knowledge of the town and area really opened our eyes to the richness of Eureka, CA.

We were just passing by on our way to Portland and it was a nice place to stay. The room was clean and spacious with a fridge. The bathroom was also clean and I loved the showerhead.

The receptionist was very friendly. He asked us where we were traveling and gave us some useful pointers and maps.

Free parking and wi-fi.

My Mom and I are traveling and tried this family owned and operated establishment. Unique, quaint and cute. A very pleasant experience. Bed was very comfortable, very clean and most of all secure. No A/C, but fan provided. Great hot shower.

This motel was certainly a reminder of the olden days of car travelling, when every little motel was a unique design and run by a nice family. When we checked in, the owner asked us a few questions about our plans and then gave us great advice on where to go in Redwoods National Park and Eureka. We followed his suggestions and had a great time.

The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and there was a very useful dorm-size fridge/microwave. The bathroom had a very nice rain shower head and good pressure, better than some hotels I've stayed at for twice the price. Speaking of price, it was very reasonable, especially compared to the chain motels in Eureka which were quite a bit more expensive.

Also, we didn't see any of the "shady characters" mentioned in other reviews, and while it might not be the best part of town, Eureka is a small town and this is about three blocks from the cute shops. There is a bit of road noise, since it is literally on the highway, but so are all the other motels, and it's not objectionable if the bathroom window is closed.

We would definitely stay here again if we end up in Eureka.

Colorful and unique, funky layout for this small motel in a handy location to experience the old town section of Eureka. Large old style rooms, good beds and a hard working and attentive manager. Stairs up to rooms could be issue when dealing with luggage.

Thank you Allan G for your review. We appreciate your kind words and agree with you that stairs are always harder to take luggage up than an elevator. You are completely correct. We encourage all customers who do not wish to engage in this type of physical activity to consider other more modern facilities to fit their needs better if a downstairs unit is not available. Nonetheless, we hope that we can accommodate you again soon.

Town House is an old motel and looks it, inside and out. It's also not in the best area of town, if, in fact, Eureka has a "best" area of town. On the other hand, if you're stuck in Eureka for a night, Town House was cheap, the room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the manager had some good suggestions. The Lost Coast Brewery is close by and it's the best place to eat in town. So, overall, Town House is OK for a one night stay.

Thank you VonWoogle for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. We want to clarify that the City of Eureka is very unique and quite historic. People often mistake the older buildings and neighborhoods as "run down", but this is in fact the true definition of historic. The area we are located in is a prime area for tourists and in back of World Famous homes and boutique shops. We agree though, the town is quite different compared to a shiny city like Vancouver where you reside. We hope that we will able to host you again in the near future.
