On the right day the bay can be beautiful, a day with blue skies, and clear blue teal bay water really adds to the beauty of the bay. It can be enjoyed from all sides of the bay, South and North spits as well as the Arcata Marsh.

We drove around Humboldt Bay to see if we could find a walk/hike that would work. The Bay area does have its high points: dunes, places to fish and so on, and it is clearly a summer recreational area for ORVs. Still, in general the Bay surroundings are not well maintained and the area seems depressed and sad. Perhaps this has to do with the native tribes that were slaughtered here many years ago. Perhaps just today's mist.

This place is a small town above Eureka, we went to drop off my brother to Humboldt University and we decided to look around town, this place is to relax and forget your worries. The beaches are clean and very nice, the water is cold but the views are spectacular. Definitely recommend this place, and along the way here you can stop at the many wine tasting places along the 101 N.

We took the Madaket cruise around they bay, there's lots of history and amazing views. There were seals and a porpoise in the bay while we were there, and they sometimes get a whale!

Between San Francisco and Seattle, only this harbor ranks next. The seafring history is incredible. The nautical museum is really splendid with great artifacts from the life of the Bay. We visited it from the bay side, and also drover to the small company town of Samoa and took in another view. It feels like the heartbeat of the city, the ebb and flow. Really tranquil and watching the working seamen and women on their vessels exemplifies the soul of the harbor.
