I ate here with business colleagues and was definitely impressed by the view at sunset as well as the varied menu and libations. we shared the Kung Poa calamari which was a great mix of heat and savory flavors. Diners at our table were happy with their fish selections and especially liked the seasonings that tended towards Asian flavors. Several folks had steaks and were also happy. The Lobster Mac and Cheese got high marks. The restraint has good selection of wine and beer...not to mention 100 different vodkas...only a couple of which were sampled during this sitting.

Had lunch with friends. I had the prawn watermelon salad. Prawns were dry without much flavor. Spinach and watermelon were ok but nothing special on the dressing. We asked for more ice for the iced tea six times over the course of an hour--finally a woman who seemed to be helping out brought us ice. There was a strong smell of cooking throughout the whole restaurant. Vintanas has gone downhill since I was last there....

First, we had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes to be "texted" that we could be seated. This is ironic for two reasons: 1) our reservation had to be quarter past the hour rather than half past because they didn't have any openings at half past, and yet that's when we were seated and 2) having to be texted when you're sitting right next to the hostess station.

As for the food, I ordered what should have been a nice succulent piece of fish, but it over cooked and dry. Another of our meals was prepared incorrectly and was sent back. All they did was wash it off and sent it back out.

Service was horrible and inattentive.

If you've never been to Vintana, which sits atop the Lexus dealership in Escondido, then you've missed the best restaurant along the northern I-15 corridor. The vodka bar is not to be at least looked at~it's right next to the entrance. Happy hour is a deal and the menu is excellent! Once inside, even with the huge windows overlooking a shopping district and the freeway, you don't even notice them as the ambiance of the restaurant is so upbeat. You should at least try it once. I would suggest reservations.....

Had a very nice evening with friends, great place for catching up and conversation. Even though it was full and very busy, the noise level was managed well and was just fine. The food was a mixed result, steak excellent, the sea bass overcooked. They had just started a new wine flight idea but it took a very long time to appear, there was still confusion on how they were going to handle it.

In most similar situations, I'd rank them a 3, but gave them a 4 because it's just a really nice ambience, a good feeling, very attractive. And I did like the outdoor feel too. Just as important, they work to make things better, to meet your expectations. I'll be back.

And, anyway, they're on the 3rd floor of a Lexus dealership - great neighborhood!
