This place had wonderful margherita pizza and wine! I loved the sparkling moscato (quite sweet), and the cabernet and trinity wines were great also! The only downside is they coud use more heaters...it was quite chilly for an evening/afternoon in february. We spent a good deal of time thinking more about how cold we were than the atmosphere. Aside from that one negative, the workers were all very friendly and it would be an excellent place to dine in the warmer months with stunning valley views! (Also, paving the area for overflow parking would be a big improvement!)

The Cordiano Wineries is located on the top of a mountain outside of Escondito, Ca close to San Diego. The location is beautiful, like other have said it feels like you are in Europe. The owners are very gracious and have the knack to make everyone feel at home. The pizza us excellent. If you want to have lunch at a beautiful location this is it. I'm sure it would also be a great to watch the sunset.
Pizzas are $10 to $14 and will feed 2 people.
The drawback is the wine. It is just not very good. We spent $22.00 for a bottle of Merlot and it was just bad. I understand they lost all of their old vines to a fire that swept the area in 2007 so maybe that is the problem. The new young vines may just not be producing up to par yet.
It is still worth the trip up there for the pizza and the view... Just drink water.

We didn't even know this winery existed until our friends suggested we meet there for dinner. What a wonderful surprise! The view from the patio where we ate made us feel like we were really in Italy! The owner/hostess was so friendly and funny, she made us feel like family immediately. We shared 3 different pizzas with 2 other couples and they were all delicious, especially the margharita pizza. I didn't have any of the wine so I'm unable to review that. One thing to be aware of - as friendly as the staff is, they seem to be a little disorganized so you may not get the pizzas you ordered the first time around, but they will make it right! Also, be prepared to savor the ambience and the sunset because getting served can take some time. But since it's such a beautiful setting it's worth the wait.

My husband and I went to this great winery. It's like driving up to a friends home. Once you park and walk around to the back of the home you are greeted with smiling faces and a spectacular view. This is where all the seating and the tasting takes place. This is a family owned and operated business. True Italian family. Gerardo and Rosa Are the owners and it was like talking to old friends. Their wine, in particular their Reserve Cab and Tempranillo was delicious. There is an outdoor pizza oven and their sons made a Margherita pizza that was to die for. They also serve other pizzas, salads, etc. perfect food to pair with any of their wines. There was a constant breeze so despite the warm temps outside, it was tolerable. They are in the middle of an expansion to their winery but nothing beats the view. It's really takes you to a different place and time. I'm so glad we found this place. I love the "family" vibe. We will definitely come back to Cordianos.
