I'll begin by saying that my children really enjoyed this...only because of the novelty of the event and the fact that our tent was near the elephant enclosure and we saw them close in the evening and morning. As well, our tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable...thats where the positive feedback ends.
We booked 7 of us (two adults and five kids) into two premium tents (you get a bed and a few cots) and paid over $1200. From the beginning when we were greeted, you could tell that the organizations goal was maximum profit with minimum expense. Hey, I get they need to make money, but this was ridiculous.
We were subjected to "Peggy", who had us sit in a circle and droned on about one little snake she was holding for 45 minutes. It was brutal. We experienced her again that evening talking about an owl...Peggy had no patience for children, or anything else for that matter...she remineded me of the short tempered nuns from my Catholic grade school days.
The other animal we saw close up was a prairie dog. Yep...those are the three animals we "interactd with"...a small snake. an owl, and a prairie dog...same stuff your 1st grader sees when the zoo visits his class. Other than that, it was seeing animals in the distance.
The food served was a full on embarassment. Really really bad. For $1200, we figured the food would be of some quality, but instead it was worse than most of the food I experienced after 9 years in the Army. The children were looking forward to the campfire at night which was to feature S'mores...the S'mores they had were pre-made, served our of steam tubs, and tasted nasty. Along with that, they were limited to one per person! My kids didnt understand why they couldnt have another one! The food service people were rude, short tempered and unhelpful. OK...maximize profit and serve crap food, but at least be nice to us.
Once again, the kids had fun with the novelty of it all...which is what matters most. But this event and experience could be so much more with very little extra expense and...most of all...with something that costs nothing at all...good, heartfelt guest service.

Don't be fooled at the low prices. As soon you click through the turnstiles you will be hit from every angle by some kind of ad. They have a balloon you can go up in the air on that cost extra. Then you see these really cool safari trucks and you get all excited, until you find out they cost like 100 dollars per person to ride. They also have an overpriced zip line for about the same price. The entire day we walked around feeling like a lower class citizen. People even paid money to cut us in line. I am not joking! Only go to this place if you want to know what it felt like to live in the Feudal days. Hail to the king.

For the price, more things should be included. There really aren't very animals or exhibits. The safari ride that lasted 30 minutes was fine, but everything else was spread far out (lots of hiking). If you want to spend a LOT of money for the extras, i.e $60-$70 for up close tour or segway tour, you might consider it. If not, I wouldn't waste the gas money for it. The Zoo was 100x better and much better value.
