So if you are an impatient person, then this is not the restaurant for you. But if you like a good atmosphere, great food and island time service, then this is the pace for you.

They are slow but I think it's all part of the experience. Anyway, it has such a lovely vibe about it, I was happy to sit back, relax and wait to be served.

The food is out of this world (it was my first time to have caribbean) and is the best grub I had in my whole trip. They have caribbean music on a friday night which only adds to the charm of the place. It's brightly decorated and the staff are very friendly.

Rough and ready is how I would describe it and thats the way I like it. They do not stand on ceremony here. I actually haven't enough good words to say about the place. This is a must for anyone in the travelling in the area.

I love this place..

It took 15 minutes for the drinks to make it to the table. Never got the condiments we had to steak them from the table next to ours. She ( white owner) forgot to bring the appetizers. The food was a poor representation of Caribbean cusine. Jamroc should have called the dish curry "shredded chicken" because it was overcooked and had no hint of Caribbean spices. The Roti skins that coast an extra 2.75 was porous and had the curry spilling out. Food was cold and plaintains were over cooked and burnt to a crisp. Disappointing food and service.

Not good for vegetarians at all - and the meat eaters I was with weren;t impressed either.

The atmosphere is fun, and the wait staff is always friendly. Adding to that, there is often live acoustic music on Friday and Saturday evenings. The goat curry or red snapper both offer unique tastes worth trying. Wash it down with a Red Stripe or try out a tasty local wine. We always have a great time at Jamroc.

If you head just a little south of Carlsbad and are driving slow enough to take in the colorful shops of Encinitas you will not miss the striking colors of the Jamroc Caribbean Grill. Arrive on a weekend and you will walk in to the sounds of live local music and instantly be transported to a tropical island. The exotic smells and island décor take you on an instant vacation. The lovely staff of locals takes you through the diverse and interesting menu. Jerk chicken and Jamaican patties are pretty safe bets and the Jambalaya is a homerun. If you’re a little more adventurous try the Currie Goat or the Oxtail Soup. Everything is amazing. Also if you like it hot they offer some interesting condiments on the table. The Jerk Ketchup and the Walkerswood Hot Jamaican Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce were my favorites. over course non of this is complete with out a big old Red Stripe
