“Great coffee and tea spot in old train depot - unique setting and tasty offerings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

Yes, this place can get busy and parking can be a nightmare so it's not likely to be an every day stop but it is a WONDERFUL special treat. The old train depot is just such a cool building and exploring it a bit is what makes coming here fun and worth doing. There is also ample seating indoors (upstairs has seating, even outdoor seating on the balconies) and especially outdoors - which is where I recommend you sit and sip your tea and enjoy your goodies.

I've never had their coffee but they have an extensive tea menu. They'll make any of the teas hot or cold and they have almond or coconut milk as non-dairy options for your coffee and tea drinks. My favorite on a hot day is the coconut oolong with coconut milk - a very light, refreshing, and tasty drink! They also have a great menu for a light lunch and plenty of baked goods to choose from, including gluten-free selections. The pumpkin pecan muffin was delicious.

I love this spot, it's a great place to go for a special treat when you have some time (it's not a place to pop in for a quick coffee or tea!) or to take out-of-towners (or go to if you are an out-of-towner!). I like to go here with my girlfriend after we hike Torrey Pines and are heading back up the coast to Carlsbad for a refreshing tree and a goodie. Also a great spot for cyclists along the coast to refuel!

I recommend going, at least once!

“Just About The Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014

Gorgeous old nostalgic building, GREAT cafe mocha with Mexican chocolate, and awesome quiche, pastures and cookies! The only thing that would make it better would be moving the location from right on the highway. With that being said,....still love the place and have probably visited 40 times in the past decade!

“One of my favorite breakfast spots”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014 via mobile

Whenever I'm in the San Diego area a visit to the Pannikin is a must. It is a converted train depot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Food is amazing. The muffins are HUGE!

Come and enjoy!

This place is great! The espresso is wonderful and the food compliments it very well. When we're in town we make it a point to go here.
