Owner description: Explore four miles of garden trails, enjoy restful vistas, flowering trees, majestic palms, and the nation’s largest bamboo collection. Thanks to our mild climate, plants from all over the world thrive here. Our diverse topography provides a variety of microclimates giving the visitor a sensation of going from a desert environment to a tropical rainforest, all within 37 acres.Located 30 minutes north of San Diego in Encinitas, California, San Diego Botanic Garden features numerous exhibits, including rare bamboo groves, desert gardens, a tropical rainforest, California native plants, Mediterranean climate landscapes, succulent gardens, an herb garden, firesafe landscaping, a subtropical fruit garden, and native coastal sage natural areas. In June of 2009, we opened the Hamilton Children's Garden, the largest interactive children's garden on the West Coast.

I got married here several years ago and we return each year for the beauty! The flowers are stunning and the different areas are so neat to explore. The childrens area is especially cool and include a few activities. One year they had a bunch of succulents and you could make a paper pot and take a plant with you! What a great idea! Our plant has grown so big and serves as such a special memory. They only really serve snacks so make sure you eat before you arrive. These gardens are incredibly beautiful and worth a visit or more!

An oasis in San Diego! Beautiful gardens, waterfall and ponds and two children gardens that the kids have great fun all day! We packed picnic food and stayed at the gardens all day and loved it!
A must for garden enthusiasts and a great place to have a wedding, birthday party etc

The San Diego Botanic Garden is a great place to visit, particularly if you have any interest in plants. But even if you don't it's a nice place to go for a walk and enjoy the outside. The garden features several distinct areas where like plants are grouped, including a bamboo garden, a succulent garden, a fruit garden, and a section with native California plants (of course). Admission is $12 for adults and parking is another $2. But you can easily spend a couple hours walking around.

This garden packs a lot into its acreage with different plant areas, a large waterfall, succulents, cactus, natives etc..also has a small gift shop where you can pick up some inexpensive plants. A really nice garden for adults and kids.
