It is 19 steps from the front desk to Tomiko's, and after driving all day to get to Encinitas, it was nice to be able to just walk across the lobby into a nice restaurant , order a well deserved cocktail and dinner and look out at the ocean.

We have eaten at this restaurant so many times and it never disappoints us! A fun family friendly atmosphere with great service and great food. If you are looking for greasy Tex-Mex type Mexican food this place is NOT fir you. This is authentic central Mexican-Mexico City cuisine with amazing flavor. The languistino en chipotle sauce us about the best dish I have ever had anywhere. For lighter fare try their Tacos Rajas or Pescado Limon. The guacamole is a great starter that my kids absolutely love. Certainly it is one if the best restaurants in Encinitas! Oh and don't forget to try their Margarita Especial or the skinny Margarita is good too.

This review refers to El Callejon in the new Vista Village. Met friends for Happy Hour. Nice outdoor seating area. Good chips and salsa. Delicious margharitas and wide selection of draft beers. Friendly service. We had three starters, all with good flavour. Would go back and try the main menu.

This is one of our favorites for authentic South American food. The menu is really varied, and everything tastes homemade. The owner is present most of the time so it is a well run restaurant with a great staff and a wonderful setting. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy but for the most part this is a great alternative so the less-authentic, gringo-oriented places that abound in San Diego.
