Swamis is my favorite family beach. It's located at the south end of Encinitas. There is a small parking lot and road side parking. At the edge of the lot, there are benches that have amazing views of the ocean from the top of the cliff. You descend onto the beach using a steep wooden staircase. Try not to bring too much heavy kid gear or you'll pay for it on the walk up. There is a shower at the bottom but sometimes it's out of order. The beach is long and fairly wide. The kids enjoy beach combing for shells and unusually colored granite rocks (red and green). If you don't like the seaweed mounds with flies, you can get the kids to cover them up with sand. :) The views of the ocean and the cliffs along the beach are spectacular.
