Great local place if your in or anywhere near Encinitas. I had the opportunity to eat there while visiting family in Encinitas this summer and enjoyed each and every meal I had there. You won't leave there either hungry or unhappy. Unbelievable selection of many Belgium beers as well. Full 5 stars in my book.
If your in La Hoya you should stop in at their other location "The Public House" which has the same fairly priced and excellent food and beer selection as well.

They probably have the best burger in Encinitas. To top it off they have the best selection of beers in town as well. Busy place in the late afternoon and evening so plan ahead.

We were in San Diego from May 22-30, 2012. After hiking in Torrey Pines, we headed north on 101 in search of a special garden a friend recommended in Cardiff. We enjoyed the wonderful views and scenery at the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens. It was really a beautiful place. Just down the street from the gardens was Encinitas Ale House. Happy Hour started at 3 pm. $5 special on wine and $2 off draft pints. They have a great beer selection. Appetizers were also 1/2 off. We had the best bruschetta. It had tomatoes, avocado, cheese and a special garlic drizzle. YUMMY! We also had a delicious salad and the Santana burger. Delicious and a bit spicy. This was the best and most reasonable meal we had on our trip. We highly recommend driving up the coast from San Diego.

Usually I'm a fan of cozy bars where you can meet new people and enjoy a good beer, but unfortunately the ale house is just way too small to be comfortable and quaint at the same time. The music is also way too loud, which is ironic since you really can't have much of a conversation if you wanted to.
The food is mediocre and the staff could do a little more to
make it feel more welcoming.

if you like beer and good food you will love this place! The restaurant is small, and don't visit on a hot day because it does get very stuffy. Hopefully they will invest in some better air conditioning this year.
