Union Tap has a fun loud atmosphere but an option is the Oak Room where the air is much more relaxed. We have eaten here at least once a week since it has opened. The food has ALWAYS been excellent. We usually order the 'Shrimp and Grits" off the lunch menu and it is definitely one of our favorites! On our last visit, a Sunday evening, we recommended this dish to our guests (our table had 4 orders). It must have been prepared by a different chef - looked different on the plate and the HEAT quotient was way up! We wish they would have been warned (a 9 year old was ordering the dish). The rest of the 4 remaining meals were perfect. When it came time for dessert, an order of S'mores was ordered by the child and again it was so SPICY (cayenne in the chocolate ???) it was practically inedible by anyone at the table!!!!! Wish the server would have been more willing to guide our young guest through the menu. Hope this was just an off night in the kitchen.

We enjoyed our meal! Great burger! Friendly staff. It's really more a bar, tons of young people drinking and very noisy! Having said the, I would go back again.

For the life of me I cannot understand the popularity of this place. After several indecisive attempts (due to overly loud atmosphere) we finally sat down at this place. 2 males in low to mid 20s, 1 female in 20s, 1 female in 40s. We asked what "beef cheeks" were. The waitress told us that it was a really tender cut of meat from under the ribs. She said it was really tender and flaky. LMFAO. Note to wait staff: do not lie to people who carry smart phones. We quickly pulled it up on Google. Then she said that the restaurant uses beef brisket instead. Oooooookay...... So the two male diners ordered that. One person ordered a burger and one ordered fettucine. Three entrees came out together; the burger didn't come out for a long time (that's because the burger was the only thing actually cooked to order.) The beef cheeks/brisket was cold in the middle. This means that it was cooked ahead and then reheated in the microwave. It took a while to find the waitress again. It was re-heated and brought out again. Meanwhile, the other two diners were done eating.

The food sucked and the service sucked and we left. If you think this is a good place, then you should get out more. Or maybe it's just for people who drink so much they don't notice anything else.

My wife and I met a group of friends here for a birthday. We had a party of about 20 people. We were all able to sit at a large table together. The waitress was awesome, not only was she attentive to everyone, she did a great job of keeping separate tabs and brought out our drinks and food very quickly. The flat breads were very good. The hot wings were awesome and had a hint of a smoked flavor. The ladies liked there speciality drinks and I enjoyed the craft brews. There drink menu had several craft brews and there was even more listed on a board that they change out regularly to try new things. The atmosphere was nice with large windows opening to the street. They also let us bring in our own birthday cake.
