We just spent time at the Hyatt Place in Emeryville, CA. we had an extremely comfortable stay in this all suites hotel. The were many families as well as many business travelers. The rooms were ultra clean and efficient. The breakfasts were a godsend. There was enough variety for all palates. We were able to fuel up before heading out to tour San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Muir Woods, Napa and Santa Cruz...all very accessible with the great location. We did have to remind our housekeeper to refresh our towel and toiletry supplies, but other that minor detail, our stay was perfect.

Room Tip: i had a room that faced a railroad. I would ask for the other side.

I stayed here for eight days while visiting Sacramento, San Francisco, and Berkeley, and after reading the reviews I knew enough to request a room with a bay view on a high floor. And I got it, although there were a few blocks of shopping mall in-between (it turns out that Emeryville is pretty much one great big shopping mall; that's the downside; the upside is that it is right at the foot of the Bay Bridge, just about, and the hotel rooms are significantly cheaper than in San Francisco). My room was BEAUTIFUL, fresh and updated, and the staff were incredibly helpful and polite.

Room Tip: Ask for a bay view room on a high floor. And take the Bayporter Express if you fly in to SFO (San Francisco airport), it will save you about 40 bucks compared to the cost of a cab. Trader Joe's grocery store is a couple of blocks away for grub.

We choose the hotel for a central location close to the AMTRAK station prior to departing on the California Zephyr to Denver. The room was very good. It is a short walk from the hotel to the AMTRAK station.

Room Tip: The trains are noisy when arriving and leaving the station. Ask for a room on the side of the hotel from the station.

This hotel is depressing. Although our room was fine, there is no real restaurant --only a
cavernous room with terrible acoustics and a very limited menu. At breakfast, busboys crashed around with carts laden with used dishes, at one point bumping into me. The restaurant would be excusable only in a third-world country --no offense intended to such countries!

The lobby is totally user-unfriendly. No seating, if I remember correctly, It's hard to imagine that the Hyatt chain would have a hotel like this one.

These guys took great care of my party when the incompetent and rude people at the Hilton Garden Inn, where we had reservations, made our stay not worthwhile. I wrote a review for them too. They got us in and parked 2 tour buses on 10 minutes advanced notice and hotels were supposed to be sold out in the area. Thanks Jose!!
