“Couldn't Ask for More”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

My husband and I spent three nights at the Hyatt House in Emeryville recently. Although it's true that the carpeting was a bit stained and the "living room" furniture could use replacing (not very comfortable) the place is immaculate, the employees wonderful and the location perfect.

The bed was very comfortable and the linens were nice.

There was a full kitchen in the room and if we didn't feel like eating out at night (which we didn't) we could walk to the very close Trader Joe's and get whatever we wanted and come back to the room and eat.

The exercise room was certainly adequate. There were a couple of treadmills, an elliptical machine and a rowing machine, along with some free weights. It was never croweded when I went to use it.

The breakfast buffet was great. There were always eggs, breakfast meat, great oatmeal, bagels, fruit, etc., etc. And, it was free, so I can't complain about a thing.

The area is perfect. There is a shuttle which will take you from the hotel to BART so if you want to go into San Francisco, it's an easy trip. The van drivers were always great.

We go to California a couple of times a year and will be sure to always stay at the Hyatt House in Emeryville!

Solid hotel with a nice free breakfast buffet but I found the furniture dated and well used, the bed hard and the pillows flat. The Hilton Garden Inn just down the road is better and at times cheaper.

On the positive side - there is some shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance.

I stayed over night during Labor Day Weekend. The staff was wonderful and friendly. I stayed in their room with a king size bed. The rooms are a tad small, but that's what you get in the bay area at most places. I did complete a survey for the hotel and had a nice response from the manager. They are doing a complete renovation to the rooms and common areas in November.

I did suggest cleaning common areas a little better, such as stainless steel cleaning and the manager said that it has been relayed to the housekeeping staff.

The carpets were worn and the tv was old. The manager did say this would be taken care of during the renovation and that the internet connection would be enhanced and the business center will be redone as well. I would stay here again if I am in the area. The parking lot felt very safe and well lit. I felt my car was well watched by security I have suggested to my husband to book this hotel when he travels in the area as well.

We stayed over night, just one, in a smaller room without the kitchen.
The hotel needs a bit of care, the carpets are all pretty much stained and destroyed, in the hallways. It needs little things like the elevator doors cleaned, just some more attention to the common areas of the hotel.
The furniture and doors are a bit worn. But the beds were really comfortable, and the rooms were really clean. The bathrooms looked like the counters and backsplash may have been updated recently. Yes the tv's were old, they probably should be upgraded to a flat screen.

Although the hotel was completely booked, it was quite all night long, we never heard any noise from the other room, except while in the hallway.

The staff was friendly. And the security is top notch. I heard them at one point yell at someone to get out of the parking lot at one point in the night. So I'm pretty sure your cars are well guarded.

The free breakfast wasn't amazing, but at least you can get some coffee and a toasted bagel.

Would totally recommend and would stay again.
Booked 2 1-room suite rooms for 4 nights in August 2012. Clean, new looking hotel with beautiful lobby and facilities. Reasonable rates, even for meals in dining room and snack food bought at front desk ($3.50 for small personal pizza to heat up in your own micro seemed like a good deal at midnight!). Suite rooms have great amenities: full kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, full size fridge. Rooms were large enough for a family of 8 to socialize in, plus they gave our 2 families rooms beside each other which was convenient and nice.
Kids enjoyed large enough pool, adults and kids enjoyed hot-tub. Both were very clean. Gym looked well equipped.
Breakfast was great: a good selection which varied daily and a large area for both the buffet display and tables for eating. One morning we were somewhat later (arriving about 40 minutes before the end time) and although it was extremely busy the staff were excellent about refilling food promptly.
Loved the location: short walk to all sorts of shopping and dining. Easy drive into city without downtown prices and parking issues.

Room Tip: one side overlooks the train, but has suites; was told bay side has smaller rooms

My family of 5( 4,6,8 year old girls) stayed here for a week this summer. We were in town for a wedding. The location is great! easy acess to highway, San Fran and to Oakland. Easy walking to Trader Joe's grocery and a great outdoor mall with a variety of restaurants and shops and movie theater. The suites are a tight fit for a family of 5. Wish I had known we could have added an adjoining king room to make it a 2 bedroom. The two beds in the bedroom are just doubles. The sofa was very worn out, not comfortable to sit in and almost impossible to sleep on. Carpet is dirty and worn and fraying. Nice size bathroom. Breakfast was good but they were unprepared for the number of guests most of the time we were there, despite knowing that the hotel was completely book. There was often a wait of 10-15 minutes for them to replenish items, not nearly enough seating at all. Staff all were nice but no one seemed very sure of themselves or what they could do. Problems with rates, having to check out and back in due to wedding rate for part of the week. My father had to move 3 times just to have the same rate as we had for the week. They didn't have my sister's (the bride) room ready in time for her to get ready for the wedding. Actually sent her to a room with someone else still in it. Pool and workout room small but nice. Liked having the hot tub too. Free parking was a bonus. They say they are on the list for a remodel which will help alot. Plus a lot more training and empowering employees to make the customers happy will go along way too.

Room Tip: If you have a family of 5, ask about getting an adjoining king room to make it a 2 bedroom. Half th...

We do a lot of business in SF, but our crew can get up to 15 people. That would be cost prohibitive across the bridge. We stay here because you can get three beds a suite, a kitchenette and free breakfast -- which our crew loves.

On the personal, the hotel is situated a great area for shopping, with a fun fab food court in walking distance -- and when I say food court I mean marketplace style, not mall. The only chain there is Peets which I don't even count. I went to a Pho place that was wonderful. You've got about ten different Asian cuisine places, about 3-4 mediterranean spots, and at least one mexican. I think there's hamburger spot as well -- and again none are chains.

With time off, My huband and I took the FREE local shuttle to Bart to get into the city which was perfect (about 20 minutes to downtown SF). From there we were able to catch buses all the way to Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park. We've done the same previously to the Wharf and the Bart goes directly to the Embarcadero as well -- no bus needed.

If you are a family with kids who want to save money, stay here. The place may seem more $$ than the other hotels in the area, but you get so much more. I believe you could get at least 6 people in those 3 beds. They also have a pool/jacuzzi, an office center, and a real restaurant if you decide to eat there for dinner. Nearby is an outlet mall, Trader Joe's, Bev Mo, and a couple of supermarkets. You can take Bart to both SFO and OAK (OAK is where we arrived and departed).

Bottomline, save money and stay here -- then you can spend what you save in accomodations on FOOD in North Beach, the Wharf, Chinatown, the Haight -- your choice!

PS -- ask for a room with a view!
