My wife and I had been looking for a special place to celebrate 10 years of marriage and lucked into the Elk Cove Inn & Spa. We attended a fund-raising dinner in the Sacramento Valley and the Inn was generous enough to donate a nights stay. We won the auction and started planning the trip! We called ahead to make reservations and extend our stay an extra night, planning for our anniversary weekend. The inn keeper was so friendly and welcoming, we couldn't wait!
We arrived and were immediatly given a little welcome basket with wine and cookies and were then escorted to our room.
A comfortable bed facing a gas fireplace awaited us, it looked like heaven. The views from the inn are stunning, the pictures don't do it nearly enough justice. A quick walk down the steps take you to a sucluded beach that was dotted with drift wood, perfect for a fire (yes, you can have a fire as long as it's in one of the metal fire grates) Unfortunately we didn't figure out the fire part until it was too late for us to do it.
Both mornings we awoke to wonderful breakfasts that were hearty and had a little something for everyone, the view from the dining room was a great way to start off the day. Another part of our trip was a ride on the beach, I highly recommend using Ross Ranch (Tobi Ross) for the horseback trip. Sooo friendly!!
All in all it was an awesome trip that we hope to repeat very soon!!

I am planning another trip to the lovely hamlet of Elk. I have just spoken with the relief Inn Keeper of Elk Cove Inn and Spa. To my great surprise it was Jaci. What a wonderful addition. I am excited to visit Elk again.

We stayed at the Elk Cove Inn for five nights and really felt that we had come to know and love the inn, the proprietor and the beauty of the coastline. We stayed in the Greenwood room and had a startling view of Cuffy's Cove to greet us every morning and the sound of the ocean to listen to throughout the night. We were a few steps from the path to the lovely beach below. This is one of the few Inns in this area that has the owner on-site and I am sure that is what made this such a great experience. The proprietor, Elaine Bryant, is warm, welcoming and helpful--making great recommendations on local sites of interest and restaurants. She made a reservation for us at La Petite Rive, a unique culinary experience not to be missed--which we would have without Elaine's help. The breakfast room has a vast view of the ocean and the breakfast buffet is varied and delicious every day. I looked at most of the rooms and liked the Greenwood and the suites the best for appearance, privacy and view. Our young adult daughter stayed in Molly's Garden Room in the main house and liked that as well. There is actually a pretty good night life with local and imported live music at several of the bars and restaurants in neighboring towns. Also, in Elk--The Bridget Dolan Pub has great food and local beers and we had delicious burgers at The Roadhouse Cafe. The Elk Cove Inn made our trip at once restful, interesting and stimulating--I would not stay anywhere else.
