Very popular spot. Queenie does all the cooking one plate at a time. If you are in a hurry this is NOT the palce to go. If it is crowded the wait for a table plus getting the food on the table can take 45 minutes to 1 hour. But having said that Yes, it is worth the wait. Plus your in Elk, CA what is your rush. sit back and in enjoy. The Pancakes are huge the Omlets are yummy! I was only there for breakfast but I will be back!

We discovered this delightful cafe after spending the night in Mendocino and then driving south along the coast. The village of Elk is incredibly charming and Queenie's is definitely worth a stop. We had started the day at the Garden Bakery in Mendocino and weren't really that hungry but it looked too good to pass by and we were glad we made the stop. Great food (incredible scones!), friendly atmosphere and super-charming setting across from the ocean.

An employee at Husch Vineyards insisted we stop at Queenies for (his words) the "best the eggs benedict on the planet". We agree. Perfect eggs, grilled ham, homemade herb biscuit topped with a perfect lemony hollandaise sauce. Best we've ever had. It takes too long to get your food, for such a simple dish, but it's their pace and you have to go with it. Relax (if you have the time) and enjoy the quaint, local scenery.

We had a breakfast and lunch here during a 4 day stay in the area. The Omlettes are big and well prepared, for lunch we had a tuna melt and a Burger. Their potatoe salad is great alternative to fries. Queenie does the cooking, This is a real roadhouse with local atmosphere. Be aware they are closed on Tuesday-Wednesdays. We will go back.
