“Nice pub in a small town”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

This was the only restaurant open on Sunday night so we didn't have a lot of choice. But we were pleasantly surprised. it's "pub grub" but the salads were outstanding! I'd recommend the Cottage Pie also. The service was good and this was just a nice little place in this small town.

“Good place to drink, a Bad place to eat”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

The food was deeply mediocre and unimaginative. We were forced to eat here both nights of our trip due to car trouble and the second night was ridiculous. Apparently, no one on the Mendocino coast was aware that President's Day was a holiday, so BD's was the ONLY place open from Elk south for 30 miles. The hostess & head waitress was on crutches, which slowed her down considerably. People waited up to an hourt and a half to be fed and when they were, it was usually a plate of some glop that might have started out as food at one pointed, but looked pre-digested by the time it got to us. The bread pudding was hard as a rock and the hard sauce didn't seem to be cooked at all, so it was like eating a shot of whiskey with brown sugar melted in it, which some people might like, but I did not.

“Love it!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

It was pretty, but felt pubby. Food really good. We were able to feel alone, which we wanted, but noticed a comaraderie among the other guests. Very nice,.

“Very good, consistent, friendly”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Food here is not fancy, but it is consistently very good, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The pub is convenient if you are staying in an Inn in town. We always dine here when staying in Elk when we want a really good, hearty meal without a long drive.

“Adjacent to the horrible B&B”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Nothing special here....if you packed your own food for the trip, eat it. The only real positive...the young Hispanic gal working the restaraunt and bar....she was very nice.
