Courtyard Los Angeles LAX/El Segundo

Evening check in after a long flight from NYC went well with a friendly welcome by Nicole. Checkout was matter of fact with a "couldn't care less" attitude (someone else). A two-day stay in this otherwise clean, quiet hotel, conveniently located (if you can remember which way is which on the surrounding streets!) among local office buildings and restaurants (just a few blocks away on Sepulveda and Rosecrans you have a Ralphs supermarket, Chipotle and Cozymel (good Mexican grill restaurant a step up from Chipotle)) and some other restaurants. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are also close by, and so is the airport - of course. The hotel is half a block from Homewood Suites on Mariposa, and its sign is hidden behind a tree - we drove right by it on the first attempt, the second attempt and not quite on the third! Smallish swimming pool used mainly by children, free parking, free Internet. Breakfast buffet is OK, with two kinds of egg dishes, a small selection of muffins and danishes (frozen, heated), great fresh fruit and friendly service. I'd return if I had business in the area, otherwise, it's a bit sterile and pricey, but then again, pricey is all over CA.

I spent five days here while in LA on business and found it to be a nice hotel with a friendly staff. The room was pleasant, spacious, and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool area was nice, clean, and enjoyable. It's a great location if you want to be near LAX or spend time in Venice, Santa Monica, or even Beverly Hills. If you want to go to Burbank or the Valley, this hotel is too far away to be convenient. In a rarity for LA, it featured free, self-parking in the lot it shares with a shopping center. It's a good price for a slightly off-center LA hotel.

I stayed here with my mom to attend a family member's baby shower in Redondo Beach. It was the least expensive hotel I could find in the area with a minimum 3star rating. It was great. The room was clean and spacious. The AC was kind of noisy. The pool area was very nice and I used the hot tub a few times.

There is no restaurant in the hotel except for breakfast which is a little pricey. There is an Ihop nearby but it was PACKED on a Saturday am. We ended up going elsewhere.

They have free internet (ethernet) but no wi-fi.

It's a safe location within a business park - but I noticed a lot of families. Easy access to LAX and I-110.

If you need a decent, comfortable and clean hotel and don't want to spend a ton of money this is an excellent choice.

We had two rooms, each with double beds for a single night stayover. There were no problems with checking in or out; we arrived around 10.30pm and left at various times to leave for LAX from 5.30am to 9.30am. I cannot attest to the parking fees or policies; we didn't have a vehicle.

There is a prompt, complimentary shuttle running to LAX which (at this time) left every half hour. The desk agent informed us at check in to make reservations for the shuttle, which was no problem at all.

The room decor seems to be dated, but this was not a concern at all; after all, we literally stayed roughly seven hours and used this as a place to spend the night before heading out for early morning flights.

Also free wired internet in rooms, (bring your laptop) which seems to be a standard in Courtyard hotels. (Note: Breakfast is NOT free here, which is another general rule for Courtyard hotels.) Would I stay here again? Certainly, if I was using the hotel as an airport base. I can't attest to to the location in relation to the rest of Los Angeles as we literally went in to the hotel from the highway to sleep and out to fly.

I've been staying at this property for several years, and, like others on this site, I noticed the rooms were starting to look tired.

However, it looks as though renovations are finally under way. The lobby's appearance was much nicer than on past trips. My room's furniture looked brand new. My aunt was staying down the hall, and it appeared her room had just been redecorated, too. The rooms at this property seem a little bigger than at other hotels in the same price point, and come with in room refrigerators.

The hotel's location is a strong point - it is just five minutes from LAX, but unlike the hotels on Century Boulevard, jet noise really isn't a problem, because there are several high rise office buildings between the hotel and the airport that block most of the aircraft noise. Also, the neighborhood around the hotel is reasonably safe (Mattel's headquarters is down the street), unlike the hotels north and east of LAX, which are in a very seedy neighborhood.

The hotel had a very nice breakfast buffet. If you don't want to pay for the buffet, there is a Starbucks and a grocery store within a three to five minute walk.

For dinner, we went to Pancho's, a very famous Mexican restaurant about ten minutes away, in Manhattan Beach. The food was wonderful, as always - be sure to ask the front desk clerk for directions if you like Mexican food!

Overall, I would recommend this hotel without reservations - it is a quiet hotel in a safe neighborhood, that has attractive, newly renovated rooms.

Had to bring some visitors to LAX airport but their flight was past midnight. We decided to stay overnight than drive back 2 hrs. They had a weekend 20% off promo for $75/night with free parking and wifi. It is less noisy than hotels along Century Blvd (but you need a car) and no parking fees like other hotels. It is close to Residence Inn El Segundo which charges more ($125). Note though that they charge for breakfast ($13 for buffet) but they have a fridge in the room and you can microwave your food by the front desk/Marketplace area. We stayed before at Marriott LAX and paid $140/night and it was like a jungle, no space at the pool, front desk was not courteous and parking was not free nor was breakfast. They also have airport shuttle that runs from 430am-11pm. Staff was also nicer than the ones I've encountered at Marriott LAX. They also have a promo for Park n Fly ($129-149) stay overnight and you can park your car for up to 14 nights, better than just paying for parking by LAX. I would use them again next time and recommend to those who need a place to stand by during layovers.

I have been staying at this Courtyard regularly for over a year and am getting concerned with the deterioration in the rooms and the overall quality. The staff remains friendly and efficient; the housekeeping is friendly and efficient -- its just that the hotel seems to be aging and not as good of a deal as it used to be.

My last room last weekend was "typical". The air conditioning doesn't seem to be easily controllable so it was either too hot or too cold. The bathroom and sinks are getting old. Worse was that the carpets were WET near the airconditioning and outside the bathroom. So wet that I had to put towels over the areas to avoid getting wet socks.

The beds are slowly aging and the sheets are no where nearly as crisp and new as you would like. I notice they no longer have hot coffee/tea 24 hours like they used to; now its only available in the morning and early evening.

The place is not a bad hotel; and if you land a good room rate, you still get decent value, but overall, I think you can find better hotels now in the area.
